We pour a dusky, pumpkin orange brew. It holds a two finger tannish head, showing great retention. Thick sheets of lacing are left around the glass, with a thick foam across the top of the beer for the remainder of the tasting. There is a thick haze, but no sediment, and carbonation appears robust. The aroma is glorious with huge citrics and soap. Floral, nectary sugars of peach, nectarine, and under ripe banana add fruit, while booze adds pepper and spice. The malts are light, toasty, and metallic. Lemon tannins of a lemony breakfast tea come out with warmth. Our first impression is that this guy is surprisingly bitter. The flavoring opens with toasted malts and citric hops, lemon and orange, and some pine. Sour grain and lactics, along with an added citric sugariness mark the start. The peak shows warm spice, bitter clove, and light medicinals. The bitterness begins, with dirty and muddy pine cones. These carry to the finish, with lactic sours, more clovey phenols, and bittering citric hop cone and rind. The aftertaste breathes of fresh florals, citrus, earthy hop resin, sweet white sugar, and general citric bitterness. Really the aftertaste encompasses most of big aromatics. The body is medium, and the carbonation is medium to high. There is biting metallic astringency down the tongue and hard palate, with a satisfying slurp, cream, and pop to each sip. The final drops are slick and oily, and the beer drinks nicely. The abv is appropriate.

Overall, what we liked best about this beer was the aroma. There was such a great bright hop, and a beautiful mix of sugary sweetness. This is why the first few sips were so surprising in their bitterness. With warmth, however, the spice and hops really cool down, and come to a supreme balance with the malts, for a great representation of the style.

Great cloudy golden orange color when poured. Very fragrant citrus nose. Good pine and citrus flavor upon first couple drinks. Slightly bitter after taste. As it sits and warms a bit I get a lot more of the pine taste. Overall very solid ipa and another winner from FFF.
