Arctic Panzer Wolf
Served in New Belgium globe glass
A: Pours brushed gold with medium white head that doesn't stick around long. The beer itself has minimal effervescence and has some sediment floating in it.
S: Fresh, pungent hops that smell like crushed white grapes, overripe peaches, resin, and some grapefruit. Additional aromas include alcohol and northern lights.
T: Subdued sweetness that is immediately run over by above hop onslaught. The fruits play on palate for a moment and then medium-high bitterness shoves them aside. Finish is bitter and drying.
M: Relatively light body and medium carbonation. A little warming and drying.
O: Arctic Panzer Wolf is brewed to highlight hops and enhance drinkability, and I think it more than meets those objectives. This beer is the best West Coast style DIPA east of the Rockies. With that said, I can think of a dozen DIPAs brewed on the West Coast that are better.
