Bottle (2012)

Acquired via trade
Thanks, dannyfrost!

Clear apricot in color with very little visible carbonation. This leaves irregular, webbed lines of lace down the glass.

Big notes of citrus, floral elements, and melon combine in the aroma. There's also some alcohol present.

Hugely bitter, with lots of citrus (pineapple), melon, and a bit of cracker. Some alcohol present. Though I love the style, and there's nothing wrong here, I can't drink a lot of this.

Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Some alcohol harshness.

Decent enough, though I can't drink much at all of this. Above average.

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a tulip.

A:
Pours an extremely cloudy golden copper. A bubbly one finger head slowly drops to half a finger.

S:
From the moment you crack the seal of the cap on this bottle, Panzer Wolf permeates the room with it's dripping fangs. As with every other FFF brew, this smells amazing. Pine, citrus, grapefruit, slight malt dominate the nose. Nothing out of line with this DIPA.

T:
The initial bitter bite at the beginning of the mouth on this beer is fantastic. A moving truck full of hops slides into second after said bitterness recedes. It finishes off nicely with pine and citrus.

M:
A little lighter than other DIPA's I've had. Not necessarily bad, just a departure from the norm. Finishes hop-dry in your mouth.

O:
Three Floyds never fails to impress. APW is extremely clean, well-rounded and refreshing. It's simple yet effective. A very solid attempt at the style.

22 oz bomber into a duvel tulip. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a 2 inch thick white head that shrinks to a finger with nice laxing. Aroma is strong pine with a light breadiness. Flavor is pine resin, some tropical fruit, grapefruit, and a mild bready caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium to thick, sticky and dry. One of my favorite dipa's.

22oz Bomber into a New Belgium Globe

A: Pours a nice copper orange. Very nice white head with lots of sticky lacing.

S: Very floral with nice pine and huge bitterness.

T: Very bitter beer off the bat. Following the nose tons of pine and citrus notes. Very fresh and juicy hops.

M: Medium bodied with a slight presence of alcohol on the finish

O: A solid, but not great offering from 3 Floyds. Can't complain though as my local grocery store had this priced at $7.99. Clearly a mistake as it is $10 at the brewery but who am I to complain.

Body is bright orange, almost scary orange. Like Blue Moon orange. Frothy thing white head.

Smell is very bitter. Light lemon, and oranges. Hints of pine, a strong powdery malt backbone. metallic and strong bitter.

Strong upfront bitterness, metallic and earthy. Very bitter, and I definitely feel all those IBUs they claim. Slight sweet citrus (orange and lemon) really makes a conceited effort to come out, but its just buried among all the bittering hops.

The bittering hops feel almost leafy and stand out through the finish. The roof of my mouth feels ate up with bitterness.

22oz bottle poured into my cantillon tulip glass

A- Pours a hazy golden/yellow color with a thick white head that leaves good lacing.

S- Lots of grapefruit, citrus, and pine in the nose. Just what I'd expect from a DIPA.

T- Incredibly bitter initially with a touch of juicy citrus and pine in the finish. A big sting of alcohol is present as well. Any shred of malt backbone is buried underneath loads of bitterness.

M- Medium bodied and very dry with good carbonation.

O- Very solid with plenty of hop bitterness and flavor. I personally could take a bit more balance

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A real nice changing and highlighted body color. Goes from lemon dark yellow at the bottom to hues of peach, orange, to a great mix of dark amber orange at the top. Classic white head, valleys and peaks, forms real nicely at just about four fingers, settles with lots of retention. Clumps and clumps of lacing. Looking real sexy here.

Dank musty hops, some sweet malt and faint dried mix of apricot and peach. Smells delicious and soft, and ready to go. The nose on this strangely reminds me a little bit of Amarillo a la Hop Head Red.

A nice lingering noticeable sweetness on first drink. Sugar and malts come in mixing with the dank presence. Slight peachy fizz sense on the carbonation but a nice almost silky balance coming through also. Slight grass hop and a sense of chewy fresh hop taste to go with it. Good oils also.

Overall, fun and enjoyable.
