A: Hazy apricot, plenty of puffy white head and lacing. Very appetizing and pretty to look at.

S: Clean malt profile with some mint and marmalade. Subtle hop aromas compared to Dreadnaught.

T: Honey backbone, orangey hops, herbal. Not a lot of hop flavor, but extremely bitter.

M: Crisp and dry, very refreshing.

O: A good DIPA, nothing mindblowing. I'd like to try fresher versions of this.

Tulip glass.

A: hazy orange with fluffy white foam that disappears quickly.

S: tropical, citrus aroma with hops and pines scents.

T: Does not match the aroma. Not sweet but very bitter. Only fruity at end. Great flavors.

M: very dry: medium body and carbonation.

O: Different. Very good but not quite at the level of Three Floyds Dreadnaught.

Citrusy! Hoppy! Also malty for a DIPA.

Have you ever been to a really nice amusement park where the lines are short, the rides are awesome, and the food isn't overpriced? That's what this beer is like.

It also kind of reminds me of running through a lush meadow without any insects.

Poured into an oversized wine glass.

A: Deep, dark cloudy copper with a finger of bone white head.

S: Rich, sweet malts. Sweet, burnt hops.

T: Bitter burnt malts. Cooked sweet oranges. Slightly boozy. Sort of like a hopped up imperial brown ale.

M: Slight carbonation with a clean finish.

O: My first Three Floyds. Impressed with it, but I'm not really into malty IPAs. Probably the most brutal name for a beer though!

First off, I love wolves. They are bad ass, predatory animals. So, for this review, I will hold the beer up against its mighty name.

Pours a cloudy orange with a fluffy white head that lingers and laces. This does not look like a wolf at all, more like some kind of fox or orange cat...I'm suspicious. I was expecting it to be grey or white maybe.

Smells of grapefruit, vegetal, cascade hops a slight stone fruit backing. No festering wolf stench or winds from the (unsilent) northern abyss.

Taste is sweet with grapefruit up front that goes into a more stone fruit, slight pine, some spice, some chinook character middle before ending on a bitter yet smooth and pleasant fruity hop note. Pretty good flavor here, a bit traditional almost, not meaty...no notes of snow-laden fur.

Medium body with medium carbonation, alcohol well hidden, like a sneaking animal of death, finally an agreeable match.

More interesting hop notes come forward as the beer warms...a good DIPA to be sure, really smooth and grapefruity. Not as predatory or grim as expected but it will do.
