Bottle poured into one of my Bruery Tulips. Yet another delivery, courtesy of my buddy Matt. Thanks again, bud.

A: Pours a bright golden hazy huge with a thick frothy white head on top, small bubbles all around the edges and larger bubbles towards the middle. Picture-perfect.

S: Pine. Citrus. Grapefruit. Hops hops hops here, eh? To be expected. An earthy grassy smell underneath.

T: Taste follows the nose. I think FFF's was going for "English style IPA", and I think they've really amped up that grassy/pine flavor in order to pay homage to our fine friends across the pond.

That said, there are notes of grapefruit and even mango underneath. I'm not sure if that's what "English IPA" really is supposed to be, based on what limited experience I've had with the style, but it's much appreciated none-the-less.

The pale malts stay out of the way here. They jump in to say hello on the back end of the flavor profile, with just a touch of sweetness to balance things out.

M: Light, lively, with good carbonation, and plenty of sticky hop flavors on the finish.

D/O: Another delicious hoppy offering from 3F's. Not my favorite, but I sure wouldn't say no to another one in the near future.

Really Good DIPA. Pours a hazy orange with a good size white head. Good head retention and thick lacing. Strong aroma of citrus hops.

Taste includes piney hops as well as strong citrus hops. Intense bitterness, balanced a bit by malts in the finish. Mouthfeel is rich and crisp. The bitterness is soewhat offset by malts but there is a good hops/bitterness blast. Alcohol not noticible. Drinks very smooth.

Overall a very good DIPA.

A - Pours a very light, golden yellow color with slight haze. Two fingers of fluffy white head dissipates quickly to a thin cap that did stick around.

S - Huge hop aroma dominated by resinous pine. Some grapefruit and milder orange trail. Some plain pale malts in the background.

T - Follows the aroma, resiny pine hits with quite a bit of bitterness. Some lighter, sweeter citrus comes in intermittently as well. Muted pale malts finish off the sip.

M - Medium body and carbonation, "solid" feel to it.

O - Solid brew, but too one dimensional for me to consider it elite.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of grassy hops and low carbonation this beer brought to the table. An orangish body paired with a small head that vanished quickly made for a good sipping beer that masked its alcohol content very, very well.

There is a bitter aftertaste, but beforehand you're treated to a citrus body and a bitter initial flavor. I would recommend this beer to anyone looking to delve into the complexities of 3 Floyds' brewing style.

Sampled back on 5/29, on tap at the Three Floyds brewpub in Munster, IN.

Pours a lightly hazy, medium orange beneath a thin white head.

Massive citrus hop aromas, primarily grapefruit. Pine needles.

Flavor is intensely hoppy with a very bitter ruby red grapefruit and a scant mango. Malt isn't making much of a statement but there's enough to support the screaming hops.

Medium-light in body with a moderate level of carbonation. Well masked strength.

This is a take-no-prisoners approach to hoppy beers. Screaming with citrus/tropical flavors, loaded up with bitterness. For it's size, this one sure goes down easy.

Big thanks to angrybabboon for splitting the bottle!

Appearance: Slight chill haze. Bright hazy gold overall. Head is bright-white and slightly fluffy. Creamy and some lacing. Small thin cap lasts throughout. Solid carbonation. Sure is pretty.

Smell: Dank weed and mangoes. Pine resin and biscuit dough. Raw dough. Grapefruit and citrus zest. Super dank. Nice sweetness in the back. So much citrus. Pith, flesh, and rind. They just obliterated a grapefruit and rolled it in pine needles. Loads of hop depth. It's all there and then some. Malts are copious, but don't really counter the hops.

Taste: Pine, weed, and tropical fruit. Mango and pith. Straight bitterness plays over everything. Bitterness lingers on the back of the sip and builds over time. This might be one of the most aggressively bitter beers I've ever encountered. Malts are on the sweet side and offer a welcome counter to the brutal hops. Oily and slick. Peaches and mint come after a bit of warming.

Mouthfeel: Moderate body with a moderate carbonation. Drinks slick and smooth and doesn't relent.

Overall: It's like getting smacked in the face with a bag full of grapefruits and pine needles. Aggressively bitter and unrelenting. This beer refuses to pull punches and it pays off in the long run. Super tasty, but it's a tongue-wrecker for sure.

poured from 22oz bottle into a snifter.

A: Nice deep orange with about 1 finger white head. Head dissipated quickly.

S: lots of sweet orange and grapefruit/sweet fruits.

T: you get sweet citrus, similar to orange juice upfront. Some really sweet maltiness followed with a lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue.

good beer way more balanced then I expected it to be. Great beer.
