Poured from a 12 oz. bottle; no freshness dating found. The ale poured a cloudy, deep golden with a sustained fluffy white-head.
Perhaps the best characteristic of this ale: pungent and fresh grapefruit aroma explodes from the bottle and also the glass.
Given the aroma, one would expect a hop bomb in the mouth. This is not the case - the flavor does begin aggresively with the bittersweet, citrusy hop punch, but the ale also shows some sweet and spicy malt in the aftertaste. The flavor is very clean and refreshing if not very complex.
The ale has a medium body with a sleek, clean mouthfeel with a little too much carbonation. The lingering citra hop flavors coat the palate.
This is a very good American pale ale that I am pleased to finally try. Is it worth all the hype? I certainly enjoyed it, but it surprises me that its availability is so limited because of the high demand. The folks at Three Floyds certainly know how to market a beer.
An additional note on availability: if you live in the southern Indiana/Louisville, KY area, you can find some bottles at Bridge Liquors in New Albany, IN. They limit you to two bottles but at least they have it. Their major competitor in Clarksville, IN has this ale listed as "in stock" (even as I write this), but at 3 pm today they were sold out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the greatest person to trust the review of. Being new to the beer game I wouldn't fully trust myself either. But I finally had the opportunity to enjoy a bottle of Zombie Dust, which has gained a special mystique in Indiana.
The limited supply and availability make everyone crave this beer, however I agree with Bishop that it is semi-overrated. It is a delicious beer with a cool crisp drink, nice hazy color, and a terrific nose. However, my friend who hates IPA and Pale Ales enjoyed this beer more than myself.
It is delicious with a great taste, nose, and finish, but I would not rank it top 250 either.
