Big thanks to Fantasyroach for kicking in a brace of these 12oz bottles as extras in a recent trade. Drunk as quick as possible. Great artwork, no bottled-on date that I can see.
A. Deep dull copper orange. Beauteous tight foamy head, big lacing... nothing wrong here.
S. Great mother of hop cones! Supremely "right on" nose... bold bright Citra hops, bucketloads, nay, TRUCKLOADS of tangerine, mandarin orange, peach candy, sweet sticky malt, a touch of kumquat, tropical! smooth, candy-like... and yet, you know there are real hops here.
T. Oh heavens... sweet, succulent, soft, creamy, marriage of hops & grain sugars, yet not syrupy or cloying. Everything here just blends so much into the other that the fruity hops and sugar-kissed malt are the same flavor. Citra delight. I don't know what magic FFF has worked here, but it goes together so well that it is immediately iconic. I hate sounding like a shill, but there it is.
M / D. Thick, creamy, soft. Powder-dry finish, but until then, this is simply so soft and silly to drink as to be delightful; it practically gallops down your throat. Could be a touch less dry, maybe? There is a (very) minor metallic note here that only bears mentioning because you have to find fault somewhere. You can drink Zombie Dust all day. I sure would... the finish is a minor mirror of the flavor, but isn't too bitter, or sweet, but just fades... away.
Dark Lord bless Three Floyds. Sometimes their schtick of huge, malt forward beer doesn't really work for me, but this thing... is... great. Is this the best American Pale Ale? Too soon to say, surely, but Zombie Dust makes a compelling case. Ugh, what am I going to do with my remaining one?

Poured into a tulip glass. The liquid is a hazy orange with plenty of bubbles rising slowly to the surface. The pour kicks up a huge off-white frothy head that makes pouring the entire bottle at once difficult, and leaves sheets of lace until the beer is completely gone.
Aroma is wonderful dank hops - pine, grapefruit, oranges, hints of weed. Hints of sugar-cookie malts complement the hops while still allowing the hops to dominate. Exactly the type of aromas I love from hops.
The taste follows up on all the hop flavors from the nose. Even though it's technically only a pale ale, there is no doubt that this is a tongue-scraping hop assault - but just done at the perfect volume. It's bitter and drying, but not too much, and there's just enough of a kiss of smooth malt flavor to keep it in check. Aftertaste is dank hops and a bit of caramel and resin.
Mouthfeel is smooth and silky. Medium- to light-bodied, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Perfect for the style.
Overall, a really great pale ale - totally lives up to the hype. Nice hop profile, even if a bit one-dimensional, nice malt balance, nice mouthfeel, nice everything. Thanks to batfireman for the trade!
