A- Bright orange with slight haze. Decent lace with lots of head.

S- Citrus, pineapple and grapefruit rind. Slight mandarin orange.

T- The Citra hops here provide a clear citrusy grapefruit profile. Flavor is fantastic, and the hop bitterness is balanced perfectly to finish with the malt. Pineapple, orange rind and slight, slight pine.

M- Feels fairly dry, with a little carbonation keeping the beer bright. No residual bitterness or hop resin on aftertaste.

O- Best single-hop beer I've ever had. Just a fantastic, well-rounded beer from 3F.

I like this beer a lot, tho it's not aggressive and bitter enough to start a true love affair. Probably the best part was the fun we had hunting for this elusive beauty and the total surprise in where it was found, Carson's Ribs in Chicago:) Cheers!

A - A fine, eggshell, two-finger head forms at the top of my cup, and it looks to have some very solid staying power (and so it does, even as she nears completion, the beer still has a good centimeter of foam holding strong). The coloration is an opaque amber, with bits of light orange and yellow lining the perimeter. Lacing is present to a certain extent.

S - Oh my. Just delightfully fruity, with almost a tropical fruityness. Peach, pineapple--HUGE pineapple actually--grapefruit, with some pear and caramel in there as well. Smells just divine, I barely even want to drink the thing it smells so nice. It's a big smell to be sure, and it is right on.

T - That is fiiiine just fine. There is a little bit of bitterness and fruitiness with the malt establishing a clear presence now as well. There's some orange peel on there to be sure, grapefruit, maybe even a little bit of tangerine all of it wrapped up in a kind of musty resiny goodness that is complex and subtle and refined. Just a fantastic flavor that changes a little bit with each sip and each degree change in temperature.

M - Mouth feel is smooth, lightly dry, and just a little bit bitter. Feels very fine indeed.

O - Outstanding beer, and a courageous example of an American Pale Ale, probably the best of the style I've ever encountered. Definitely lives up to the hype in my mind and then some. Big time tip of the cap to 3 floyds, they just only know how to produce stupendous beers.

Draft at pies&pints; nonic pint.

Appearance: clear pale orange with 1 finger bright white head. Little visible carb, not much retention. Very nice lacing.

Aroma: tropical and resin; nothing distinct, but more potent than white rajah or sculpin.

Taste: light tart arrival, bold hoppy citrus mid-palate; incredibly light and fresh. Bitter finish, but cleans up really quickly; little residual bitterness.

Mouthfeel: light to mid bodied; little carb; clean as can be, with no astringency.

Overall: perhaps the world's best "patio beer." Hoppier than any pale I've ever had and most IPAs, but hoppiness does not linger. Kind of like an IPL. A lot like southern tier live. Would drink this everyday May to September if possible.

Great beer but not as good as I was anticipating and I love 3F beer. PseudoSue is the best PA in the Midwest and honestly I ld rather have a two hearted than another ZD.

Yes kind of forgot this was an APA but it is a great beer in it's own. This beer poured a darker orangey tan color. A little more malty than I expected for an APA. This IMO is closer to an IPA than I expected but style not with standing this is a great beer.

Look - A light amber color, translucent; small amount of head

Smell - It's a good thing smell doesn't always correlate to taste in beers because the smell of this is a little underwhelming (read: mild)

Taste - In your mouth is where this beer shines, while the look and smell aren't anything special, this is one of the better American pale ale's and the taste is excellent. Very balanced and easy to drink. Citrusy with a light hop flavor to it. This one is not bitter at all, but believe me it will still grab your attention at first taste. Tastes are citrusy with hints of many sweet fruits, with a mild amount of hops and malts

Feel - So smooth - lightly carbonated. Goes down easily.

Overall - Smooth and complex without being overwhelming. Great balance and a great beer.

Have to be careful and rate this one as an APA as it's definitely one of those fringe offerings that blurr the line a little bit. I only review pales if I had the chance to try them within a month of bottling and though this one barely made the cutoff I was still a little disappointed how quickly this one faded (can only assume degradation given the numerous high reviews). The typical citra profile gave way to a more grassy profile but I did enjoy the malt profile, bready and light without much lingering sweetness. Still a great beer just wish I had it younger, will be on the hunt for more to give this the review it really deserves.

Pours a perfect deep golden color. Has a great floral hoppy aroma. Has a light mouth feel. The flavor is very floral hoppy but well balanced with a smooth finish. This is my 4th time drinking this beer and the first time I really enjoyed it. As a pale ale its great, but only as a pale ale. This beer has grown on me, it just has too much hype.

Finally getting to try it. Best extra I've ever received! Pours out a clear golden orange color. Smells of citrus, pine, and some malt sweetness. The taste is mostly hoppy, juicy goodness. Wow. Tastes like an ipa. Such a wonderful mouthfeel. Probably my favorite PA currently

Thanks to awdturboiv, I had this just 7 days after it was bottled. Definitely best tasting single hopped pale ale I've ever had. The only APA that I've had that's been better is HF's Edward, but they are totally different tasting beers with different profiles. The hype surrounding this beer is legit. I can still practically taste it a day or two later. This could totally be a desert island beer for me.

Nice amber colored pour with lasting head
Slight aroma of hops at first and then citrus
Taste similar to smell, light on the hops and stronger citrus with a hint of lime
Soft carbonation with a light feel
Drinkable all day

Pours a slightly hazed sunyellow color, with a big, stable head.

Smells of sublime bitter, fruity lemon zest with balancing, white-bread malts to it. Citrus got a flowery, inviting note to it, enhancing the beers juicy, ripe lime pulp impression.

Drinks outstandingly easy, with a medium, soft carbonation to it, resulting into a very pleasant, citrus forward pale ale.

Tastes of citrus peel from the very beginning, while the malts provide a fantastic soft mouthfeel, exhibiting a hint of honey, as well as juicy lime. Also yields a soft minerality, creating a very clean and crisp hop profile, showcasing the pungent exotic fruit perfectly. Finishes with biscuity malts among an aqueous softness and pleasantly metallic carbonation, together with a well weaved in citrus hoppiness, which shines during the very end of tasting the beer.

While its hoppiness provides a pleasant assault on the tongue it is perfectly integrated and balanced by all other ingredients of the beer. This creates a great softness on the palate, resulting in an outstandingly easy drinking beer, for which you don't necessary need to be a hophead, more of a beer which convinces you to be one.

Pours golden and carbonated, one finger head. Smells of pine and sticky citrus. Pineapple? Taste is bitter and dry with fruity notes. Clean and balanced. Very refreshing. Aftertaste has some bready malts. Mouthfeel and finish are simple and pleasant. Not over peppery or intense. Really really tasty pale ale.

3 Floyds comes out with some extraordinary beers, but this one seems to be the hardest common one to find of theirs, with good reason. Everything about Zombie Dust is great and the taste makes it one of the best Apa's around! Its hard to find, but you will be happy if you do find it!

Pours a golden straw color with a slight haze. Strong citrus taste (grapefruit especially) with a smooth, clean finish and a surprisingly mild bitterness. A great clean, smooth ale. Highly recommended.

Can't believe I haven't rated this before! Grabbed a fresh couple bottles(7/9/15) and treated it as my first taste. I don't drink this on the reg, but really enjoy it whenever I pick it up.

One of the best beers I have ever had, this beer is hard to get ahold of and the hype is real. My only complaint is the slight bitterness in the aftertaste.

Finally scored Zombie Dust last month on a trip to the area. Totally lucky to hit it on the day of release AND walked in and scored a table for lunch for the first time!

The beer is a wonderfully delicious pale ale that deserves it's high marks. I'm not a reviewer that can tell you all the hops and smells and flavors. I can tell you that I'm a picky beer drinker and don't like them all. This one is a beer I'll try to score again on my next trip to Munster!

I thought I rated this before...haven't had for a couple years but it originally was the citra pale ale I judged all others against. I ran into a place (Wise Owl) that has this beer 2 days after bottling. It's everything I remember and more. The citra pops in every way. You can smell this beer all day. Only defect is there is a hint of bitterness in the back end.

12 oz. bottle (2015-06-12) poured into a tall FSB highball glass.

A - Pours a glistening pale straw. A three-finger head of very tight, pillowy foam that's eggshell white very slowly collapses, leaving generous rings of foam around the glass. Held to a full-spectrum light, the beer is a rich yellow-gold that moves toward orange in the middle and quite hazy, making it rather opaque.

S - Solid nose of fresh ruby red grapefruit hops. A hint of resin in support. Into the glass, softer citrus notes emerge with floral hops in the background. Malt is bready - moist whole wheat with just a touch of very light caramel candy.

T - Delicious lightly toasted malt topped by orange/grapefruit jam and garnished by fresh floral notes. Just a hint of Jolly Rancher candy surrounded by somewhat bitter herbal notes in the rather soft finish.

M - Somewhat fizzy with a nice crispness that slides easily across the tongue. Well-balanced carbonation. Medium-light body complements the nicely integrated, quality components. Clean, short finish.

O - Now this is my idea of a pale ale - a perfectly matched malt foundation balanced against an outstanding combination of hops. It delivers both an enjoyable, sensuous experience for the taste buds while also being clean and refreshing. More - lots more - please. This one 12 oz. bottle was just a tease.
