I can't even do the whole M-T-A-O rundown.

I will keep this simple: This is the best beer in America...of any style, period. I've had the Plinys, the RR sours (which are my favorite!), Heady Topper, Lawson's, Hill Farmstead, the rest of the FFF lineup...

Nothing comes close to Zombie Dust. Nothing. I lucked out and got a case last year as I was heading East, but this time I was stuck only having it on tap.

It's a nearly-flawless beer, and nothing comes close. 5/5, every single time.

Appearance - somewhat clouded peach-tinted golden color. Head is puffing up quickly to about a finger and a half. Holds some of the sediment from the bottom, like sprinkled cinnamon on a meringue. Steady action from below, keeping the head in good shape.

Aroma - piny and grapefruit combo, good resilience, mmm....

Taste - the citrus side of the hops hits immediately with the sturdy grain base, the balance is great right from the start. Moving to mid-palate, the grains subside and the hops go a little twangy, prickly on the tongue. Just about where they'd start to get a little medicinal, they begin to ease up instead. The finish stays mildly bitter but fills the mouth just the same. Grapefruit rind at the end.

Mouthfeel - quite smooth, very crisp, medium+ body.

Overall - excellent session pale. Thanks to my buddy Steve for picking up a few of these on his last trip to Munster. Enjoyed it during the WEBN 2013 fireworks, aptly zombie-themed this year. I really enjoyed this beer despite the hype. Too often, once I hear all the accolades, I find it hard to enjoy the beer afterwards - so much pressure! :-)

"But I can't pay attention 'cause I'm on that dust" - Prost!

Special thanks to Phyl21ca for sending us this out west.

A: A full 2 fingers of soapy white head top a hazy golden amber ale. A few meandering bubbles of carbonation make a break for the top.

S: Sweet pine resin mixed with notes of grapefruit pith. Floral notes up front of sweet flowers and tropical fruits, pineapple and mango and bitter orange.

T: Orange bitters up front pop on the palette. Sweet malts follow and support the bitters with a malty profile. A solid pine resin is there but not overwhelming, like a balancing act of malts, pine resin and orange bitters. Sweet tropical fruit juice is also present, maybe mango or pineapple.

M: A thicker mouth feel, nearly syrupy and coats the mouth well. Carbonation is medium with pin pricks that liven the tongue.

O: Extremely well balanced without shying away from the big flavours. Enjoyed the combination of citrus, pine resin and tropical fruits with that backbone of malts. A highly drinkable and refreshing IPA that comes close to a DIPA.

The taste, smell and appearance of this beer is just astounding. The bright, somewhat burnt orange look, the explosive citrus aroma, and the taste that combines the same citrus quality with the perfect malt undertone - just amazing. And so drinkable. I don't get a hold of this often, so I sometimes find myself almost disbelieving my memory of it. But I got a sixer the other night, poured myself one, took a sip, and thought: yep, just as good as you remembered. Then my wife took a sip. "That's amazing," she said. She took another: "That's the best beer in the world!" In my limited experience, I think she's right.

Three Floyds

Zombie Dust sports a polished brass body with good clarity. Carbonation swims to the surface from all over the pint glass. A two finger, foamy white head forms on the pour that eventually becomes creamy and settles to a fat finger throughout the entire drink. Solid lacing is left up and down the glass.

Pungent citrusy and tropical hop notes explode from the glass along with a nice resinous bite. Clementines, pineapple, and papaya all have their place with that big resinous quality bringing up the rear in larger amounts as it warms. A mild cracker crust maltiness, that's barely discernable, allows the hop profile to shine.

This is the freshest bottle of Zombie Dust I've ever had and the resinous hop quality is huge whereas the citrus/tropical character tends to dominate when a couple weeks old. Resinous up front with a gripping bitterness. The citrus kicks in midway through and leads throughout the swallow. Tropical notes linger after the swallow. Great beer!

Mouthfeel is spot on. Medium bodied with a light feel thanks to the moderate carbonation. There's a nice velvety body with gripping bitterness on the inside of the cheeks.

Zombie Dust is a beer I never get tired of. Every time I have one it continues to be exciting and delicious. I can't recommend this beer highly enough. It's been tough to find over the last 7 or 8 months though. I had to go to the brewery to pick this up and it was flying out of the door.
