Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. No dating info on bottle but my buddy bought at the brewery just after the release. Was a hazy, orange amber with moderate carb streams. It had a good sized white head that settled into a thick collar with covering film. Good sheeting but not much sticking.

The aroma was exceptional. Really loving the citra hop. Bold citrus aroma with grapefruit and tangerine leading. Can get a little of the malt backbone but this a marvelous hop show. The taste follows the aroma with big, bold citrus flavors with enough malt to keep it smooth. Could drink this all day. Medium mouthfeel with good carb and aftertaste.

Overall, this is one of my favorite releases over the past several years. Lives up to the hype and beyond. Most highly recommend. Not avail here in TX so got from ummagum - many thanks! Rotation - if available near me it would be a constant presence in my fridge and probably would get a keg if available. [H;Y]

Got this in a beertrade. very excited! Poured from bottle into Bruery tulip. Appearance is a bit cloudy but otherwise golden. Vigorous pour yields good carbonation and a decent head which quickly fades to a thin ring.

The smell. Dear god the smell. It's dank. It smells of wet, piney, resiny hops. My mouth is watering. The taste is outstanding. This is a beer for hop lovers. I can't believe this is just a Pale Ale. It absolutely blows everything out of the water.

Mouthfeel is great. Easy drinking. I really wish this was distributed. Overall, this is simply outstanding. Believe the hype. This is a damn good beer.

New to the review thing so this won't be overwrought. Thanks to tsauce2 for the extra thrown in with a trade. Possibly the best pale ale I've ever had. Citra hops... very fruity nose and taste with almost no hop bitterness. Lovely fruity hop flavor. Didn't even know how much of a gem this one is until the first scent of the aroma. Phenomenal!

Thanks to IrishColonial for this one!
Poured into a Mother Earth Snifter
Pours darker than I was expecting for an APA
Smell is nice, citrus and pine fresh hops
Taste is very assertive and big for an APA
taste more like an IPA but not overpowering at all.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly full, almost chewy
Overall a great APA from a World Class Brewery!

Thanks to inlimbo77 for this great extra, a true gentleman of beer trades...

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Mother Earth pint glass.

A ~ Orange/Hazel look with a 1 finger white head, no lacing.

S ~ Strong citrus scent, but really not overpowering. Pleasently greeted by pine, hop, orange notes.

T ~ Peppery burnt grapefruit start that fades into a citrus after taste. Carbination is good, but a little strong up front. Surprisingly piney with a hint of orange as well.

M ~ Thick and surprisingly creamy but I can't get past the carbonation. It's thicker than I expected, which catches you off guard since the look is more clear than a traditional American Pale Ale.

O ~ I love hoppy beers and to be an American Pale Ale, this one is hoppy! Reminds me of an IPA that isn't as overpowering with floral if that makes sense? Good overall beer that would be a go to if it were distributed to NC.

Cheers!

Thanks UncleJedi!

A- Body is a translucent orangish color. Pours with a 1-2 finger head that eventually fades to 1/2 finger or so. No lacing is left behind in the glass.

S- Nose is pretty bright and hoppy. Bright grapefruit and citrusy hops. In the background is a mild spiciness.

T- Flavor is very similar to the nose. Lots of citrus upfront with a hint of spicy hops underneath. The finish is suprisingly dry with a mild hint of spices.

M- Medium carbonation and a smooth dry body.

O- Overall this is a good beer. Lots of grapefruit and hops with little accompaning bitterness and a suprisingly dry finish. Very happy I tried this beer.

355ml bottle
No bottle info!
Served chilled in an over sized wine glass.

Thanks to pittsburghkid66 for this amazing extra from the top of my want list!

Appearance: Wow, quite a bit darker than I was expecting; this looks quite like an IPA. Lightly clouded apricot orange body topped by a good sized white head that displays reasonable retention and leaves good lace.

Smell: I have no experience with Citra hops so this should be interesting. Wow, from the second the cap was cracked I could tell that this is going to be a great beer! The nose is all hops - Orange, grapefruit, mango, peach, under ripe guava (wtf!!!), mild pine, grass and a leafy herbal quality basically sums it up. Closer inspection reveals a very light caramel note. I know this is my first experience of Citra, but it is already up on my list of favorite hops!

Taste: Hmmmm, this tastes quite like the single hop (Amarillo) IPA that I made last year... Maybe my true calling is as a brewer and not as a mathematician - well at least I hope it is!
The initial flavour is sweet malt, but this is quickly overrun by citrus, tropical fruit and strong grassy notes. Solid bitterness and lasting flavour.

Mouthfeel: Bang on for the style; medium body, lightly oily with moderate level of carbonation. Easy drinking and super refreshing.

Overall: Great beer, I would drink this throughout summer if I lived near FFF. One thing though; why do FFF bottle their huge IPA's like Apocalypse Cow in bombers and their refreshing pale ale in a 355ml?

Big thanks to Nashvillain for the sweet extra.

Appearance: Shiny copper like new pennies. Head is creamy, bright white and clings. Carbonation is present, but not overwhelming. Head retention is insane. A nice cap lingers throughout the duration.

Smell: Tropical fruit laced with some pine and grapefruit. Nice malt compliment is slight bready with a good touch of caramel. Very delicate nose, but full at the same time. None of the aromas are overpowering. Big juicy tropical fruits - mango, pineapple, and some fresh orange. So much juicy hops, but the malts actually balance it.

Taste: So much tropical fruit. It's all there. Mango and pineapple in abundance. Some grapefruit flesh and juice mixes with orange. It's fruity and delicious. Slight floral edge. Malts are in perfect balance, adding some nice sweetness to the whole thing. Biscuits and tropical fruit. Slightly earthy and is that a touch of mint I encounter?

Mouthfeel: Nice moderate body with a smooth, crisp carbonation. A touch dry on the back. Drinks clean and clear with a slight lingering bitterness.

Overall: Yup, hype is on point. Tons of flavor, but nothing overbearing. Surprisingly balanced and incredibly drinkable. Also, Citra single-hop has to be once of the best ideas on the market. Bonus points.
