The amazing and increadibly rare Zombie Dust! Was hoping to to give this one a go without giving up an arm and a leg, and claaark13 came through in the clutch. Thanks man!

From a bottle into a snifter.

APPEARANCE: Pours a fizzy, thin, loose off-white head with horrible retention. Very loose and fizzy head. Pathetic. Fizzes down to a bubbly ring and half wisp. Slightly hazy tenne orange with no carbonation evident. A bubbly ring remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass. Color is nice, but the head is embarrassing.

SMELL: Very nice nose for sure. Pale malts, honeydew melon, lots of nice citrus and a touch of soapy notes. Lemon, light orange and grapefruit for sure. Bold and fruity, and the soapy notes don’t get in the way.

TASTE: Pale malts, honeydew melon and lots of citrus again. Lemon and grapefruit through the middle and lots of bitterness on the finish. Bold and lingering aftertaste with lots of citrus, touches of soap, and a good dose of hop bitterness. Though a little empty at the beginning, the flavors really come out at the swallow and the soapy notes never detract from the experience.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Light on the palate, but still creamy enough, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry on the palate. A little too light, even for the style, but otherwise pretty solid.

OVERALL: Despite the pathetic excuse for a head, this is a pretty solid brew. Definitely not a huge fan of citra hops, but the malt base was strong enough to keep the soapy notes that citra hops are so well known for in check. Obviously not worth all the exaggerated press it gets on here, but one to check out if you get the chance. Would drink again. Definitely worth the 3F Zomer I traded for it. Thanks again Claaark13!

12oz bottle courtesy of THE CPJ. Poured into a Pint Glass.

A - Pours a hazy orange-gold with a fluffy white head that settles to a 1/2 inch cap, leaving lots of soapy lacing clinging to the glass. Quite nice.
S - Insanely pungent, Citra-forward aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, orange zest, and mango with a very slight toasted malt profile. I love this, gimme more CITRA!
T - Pretty close to the nose, not as intensely flavored as the nose would suggest but still delicious. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange, and mango with just the right amount of bitterness in the finish. This walks the line between APA and IPA so closely, perfectly combining the drinkability of the former with the hop explosion of the latter.
M - Smooth and slightly creamy, with a medium body and excellent carbonation. I only wish this was a touch lower in the ABV department so I could drink it all day!
O - Hands down the best Pale Ales I've ever had, I could go through cases of this stuff. Amazing!

A- pours a translucent brassy color with a finger and a half of off white dense head. Great retention with great lacing!

S- monstrous pungent hop aromas scream from the glass with resin, juicy citrus and an over the top aromatic leafy eucalyptus characteristic. The slightest hint of biscuity malt barely comes put on the finish.

T- again hop nirvana arrives. Juicy citrus tones blend with notes of mango and tropical fruit. Floral touches in the middle with hop resin comes out in the middle. Finishes very dry with a solid hop bitterness and the slightest touch of pale malt.

MF- slick juicy mouthfeel with a medium body and soft fine carbonation.

D- drinks like aqua!

Overall a world class pale ale that brings any hop lover to tears! Amazing.

12oz bottle into a wide flute

A: Pours a light orange color with three fingers of dense white head. Beautiful lacing and wonderful retention. A bit darker than what I'm used to for the style, but i won't fault it there.

S: Lots and lots of fresh citrus smells. Almost like smelling fresh lemon and orange peel. I get a bit of floral hops in the background, but this one is a dry smelling citrus bomb. Simply amazing.

T: Fairly significant bitterness starts off with faint floral and citrus hop flavor. Slight sweetness and bready malt flavors work in with the hops. While this flavor is by no means bad or even average, it is a huge disappointment from the aroma. Having subsequent bottles I find the taste a bit more intense.

M: Light, good carb - great for a APA.

O: Interesting. The aroma is very enticing but the citrus hop flavor just isn't strong enough for me. The bitterness is there, but I was hoping to taste those delicious citrus hop aromas I smelled. This is a solid APA for sure, but it's not world class IMO.

Just got this in a trade! Thanks whitemomba! The second I popped the cap on this beer, my nostrils got hit with a huge whiff of hops. Pours a slightly-hazy, golden color with a medium white head that disappears quickly. Scent is very heavy with the Citra hops. Lovely citra aroma with a bit of pine and somewhat earthy notes. Taste just has so much hoppy goodness going on, it's ridiculous. I haven't had Alpha King in a long time, but I remember thinking the same thing: "How do they get such intense hop profile into a pale ale?" Great citra hop flavors with lovely citrus fruit and just the slightest hint of malt. Not sure if this is a fresh hop ale, but it sure tastes like one. An all-citra fresh hop ale. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, somewhat resiny, with a crisp finish. Drinkability is very high. Overall, this is a fantastic pale ale. I would love to do a side by side with Alpha King and Daisy Cutter to see who gets crowned supreme pale ale.
