Thanks to bluz4frank for hooking me up with a couple of these.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Light, straw-colored golden with a massive, creamy white head. The head has great retention and holds an 1/8 inch head throughout the drink. It leaves behind cobwebs of lacing on the sides. It appears very lively and inviting with an ample amount of carbonation.

S: Very nice hop profile with a big citrus kick of orange and lemon. Tropical fruits of mango and pineapple make an appearance. A touch of toasted malts provide a solid backbone to the aroma.

T: The taste is slightly different than the aroma. The hoppy citrus aspect is still there as is the toasted malts, but I'm missing out on the tropical fruits here. Instead, the tropical fruits are replace with a bit of pine.

M: Medium bodied, with a perfect amount of carbonation. It has a subtle resiny feel to it, making it kind of oily and allowing the flavors to coat the palate throughout drinking. A slight bitter bite towards the end provides a nice crispness.

O: I certainly wasn't disappointed with this highly regarded brew. I would put this up against any of the highly rated IPA's out there. Superb.

Appearance: Perfect Golden Amber Color. Nice fine head with convecting carbonation.

Nose: Well put together, some grapefruit but not too bitter. Good sweetness. Nice hop notes, pure and clean. A nice clean IPA caliber of hop presence.

Taste: A good amount of hops that are clean, simple and not overly bitter. A good amount of malt to balance this out. I get some grapefruit, but it's not a bitter bomb. The pine is there also and there is very little alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Some good carbonation, good thickness.

Overall: A really well pieced together APA/IPA. Pushes the APA to it's limit. How an IPA should be put together, thoughtfully. The amount of hops is restrained (instead of just cramming them in for no reason) and it's balanced well by the malt. The bitterness is spot on for me as well and with very little alcohol. Really enjoyed this.

From the bottle, poured into a Bells Tulip, perfect 50th review beer!
