Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: AleWatcher on 06-03-2011

A collaboration/dedication ale brewed with our friend Urbain from the Belgian brewery De Struise, this intense Belgian-style double IPA was fermented with Urbain's special yeast and then an amazing amount of hops were added. This beer was brewed in loving memory of a former employee, Rich Sheppard, who passed away on 4.11.11. Art by Tommy Borst. Try this beer and enjoy the Rich life.

Bottled 2/10/14, drank 5/30/14, thanks to crapturds (reddit).

pours a nice creamy semi thick 1/2 finger head nice lacing, hazy dark reddish chestnut color.

Nose big sweet candy, little pineapple and tropical notes, into caramel toffee, citrus candied orange peel, spicy hops, chewy little early and fruity, dank and resinous, little pine too.

Taste starts sweet and creamy, little caramel and toffee, fairly sweet. Big citrus and candied orange peel, dank resinous and piney, earthy, little spicy, little fruity. Flashes of like pineapple and tropical notes but very faded. hint of warming estery booze. Finish attempts to dry but stays sticky and syrupy, more candy and little booze, spicy briny resinous hops lingering.

Mouth is med to heavier bod, syrupy and a bit creamy, creamy nice carb, earning booze.

Overall seems like it was much better when fresh, but lost some character,
