S - Smells like raspberry jalapeños as there is a Raspberry port up front and then there are earthy jalapeños in the backend up front 2.5

T - Raspberry and chocolate before waves of jalapeño comes thru. It has some heat but tastes just like an earthy, jalapeño flavor.

M - Medium body with carbonation and yet an earthy presence from the jalapeños

O- This could have been good if it had some heat and chili spice but instead this was just overpowered by a strong jalapeno flavor which when combined with the sweetness of the Port was just an odd flavor that I didn't enjoy.

(A) Pours opaque black like one would expect from a stout. Small brown head at the beginning but immediately leaves making it appear the beer is flat.

(S) Cherrys, dark grapes, other mixed dark fruit. Almost a bit of booze and heat in there. Some dark roasted malts are somewhat present.

(T) The port is very strong and heavy in the flavor. It tastes very much like wine and the red/dark grapes are present. Some sweet chocolate and coffee is paired in the taste and there is almost a bit of a heat at the end, like a pepper.

(M) It's flat, almost like it went from barrel to bottle. Full body. Oily and really smooth. Like a syrup.

(O) Really decent brew, but a little bit of carbonation would have helped. Glad I got to try it. It was very heavy on the port and almost didn't seem like a beer, but it was delish.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black body with no head. Kinda lifeless.

Smell - Lots of peppers. And not much else. A little bit of milk chocolate.

Taste - Light barrel, but it's all peppers. Lightly chocolatey. Spicy finish.

Mouthfeel - Highly carbonated and kinda spicy.

Overall - This just isn't a very good beer.

On tap at Three Floyds over Christmas. Reviewed from notes.

Pours near-black with a very thin whisp of a tan collar. No really lacing. The nose carries a really nice port character along with some chiles. The port portion was much nicer and the chiles take over too much. That is especially true in the flavor, and then even more over the top in the feel. While I like the combo of the chiles and port, the chiles are just far too forward and take over the other aspects of the beer. Some chocolate and light roast in the background as well. Overall, not a big fan of FFF's use of chiles between this and Dark Lord De Muerte.

Pours black in color with a small tan head. The chili aroma is really quite strong. It's got a very green aroma with a light earthiness. There is some wine and oak character as well as a bit of roast and maybe vanilla. The flavor isn't very spicy and first, but the heat comes on the finish. A strong, very strong, pepper flavor. Lots of green pepper notes as well as earthy tones. Some dark chocolate, port, plums, and roasted malts. Medium body with low to medium carbonation.

Pours an oily reddish hued black with discernible transitions in color. Head is minimal.

Nose is unmistakable port. Big grapey sweetness , red fruits, and lingering chiles in the periphery. The base is pretty much obliterated on the smell.

Taste follows suit....massive port presence, little semblance of any Moloko milk stout other than the thin-ish base beer, Very fruit driven...milk chocolate covered raspberries. Finish is a tidal wave of spicy peppers. Heat bites at the tongue and lingers hot at the back of the throat, with the intensity rising as the beer warms. Even as a lover of chiles, the spice is a beast.

Mouthfeel resembles more port than stout. Strange in that many parts of this beer really shine but the sum of the parts falls a bit short in the flat port feel, with no resemblance of a stout.

A port chile driven machine....those wary of port or chiles should stay far away, as should anyone expecting anything tasting of Moloko. A fun try...happy to have tried this...but a weird beer. This guy walks on the other side of the block, says Kyle.

On tap at fobab.

A: pours a dark brown with purple accents, no head, no lacing, looks lifeless

S: notes of lactic acid followed by plenty of port character, dark fruits with fits in the forefront, mellow chocolate

T: lots of fruit up front, mainly plum and fig, followed by considerable smokey pepper character with minimal heat, finish is tart

Mf: thin body, low carbonation

O: This beer doesn't work for me, lots going on but lacking in balance. The milk stout base is barely detectable.

750mm bottle from the batch released in October, 2014.

A - Beer gushed out when the bottle was opened. Lost about 1/3 of it. Thanks, FFF! Very dark brown/black with tinges of red and orange.

S - Sweet. Overripe fruit, port, plums. Not much noticeable chili aroma.

T - Fruity sweet. Lots of port flavors. Just a hint of chili on the finish. Not nearly as heavily spiced as previous reviews (from previous batches) would indicate.

M - Medium bodied for the style. Carbonation is a bit low, which might be a result of the gusher when I opened the bottle.

O - Very nice. The chilies do not overwhelm like some other chili stouts. Probably a bit too much barrel for my taste at this point; this one could benefit from laying down for a year.

On-tap at FFF brewpub, poured into a snifter

A- Arrives very dark brown/black with no head whatsoever. No lacing or legs present as drinking commences. In the dim lights of the brewpub it looks like black ink poured into a glass.

S- Oak and dark fruit make up the majority of the aroma. Hidden behind those notes there is some chocolate and hints of peppers.

T- Starts off with strong barrel and dark fruit notes, blends into a mix of chocolate from the base beer, and finishes with a kick of the chili peppers to top everything off. The barrel aging has a big influence on this beer(in a good way) and pairs well with the base beer. The chili peppers add a nice kick at the end without exerting too much presence. Glad to see the base beer is not covered up by the peppers or port barrels.

M- Medium body with low carbonation. Suits the style well, no alcohol present.

O- Glad I got to try this beer. The port barrels, chili peppers, and Moloko characteristics all shine without overwhelming each other.

A - Pours black, tan head that quickly vanishes leaving only a black beer with a red hue. No lace, cap, or retention to speak of.

S - The dark fruity port notes are right up front, followed by the chocolate notes of the base beer, and rounded out with some roast and oak notes. No real chili notes on the nose.

T - Dark fruits/port notes, oak, roasty chocolate, and a nice spicy chili kick on the finish. The port barrels bring this beer to another level, IMO. The chili pepper notes aren't over powering, but pack a nice punch...be prepared.

M - Medium, light carbonation, creamy finish (with a kick).

O - Love the port barrels...so good. The base beer comes through as well as the nice chili kick. Really enjoyed my pour...want more but can't. Sad face.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 750 ml into a Half Acre snifter.

A- pours near black with a 1 finger tan head. No lacing.

S- big dark fruits, light chocolate, and peppers

T- sweet dark fruits, vinous notes and chile peppers

M- medium body and carbonation. Smooth with spice.

O- surprising beer with nice dark fruit and peppers

Pours no head. Color is a deep brown, nearing black.

Aroma: Tons of chili pepper. Very spicy. Cocoa flavors and creamy milk chocolate. Barrels don't show here.

Taste: Much different from the nose. Starts out fruity with mangoes and oranges, then the chilies hit with lots of spice and pepper flavors. Cocoa and chocolate. I think the port barrels have something to do with the fruitiness.

Mouthfeel: Spiced, than smooth. Medium bodied with a lower amount of carbonation. Ends with heat from the peppers.

Overall, i thought this was a great beer. Very unique and very flavorful. I love peppers and they tasted great. I'd easily drink this again.

"Moloko Milk Stout aged in a Port barrel for one year on brandy soaked Ancho and Guajillo chilies". On-tap at Great Taste of the Midwest. Served in my taster tulip.

A - Served from a pitcher, so carbonation was quite low. The pitcher had a dark tan foam, but my pour was pretty much just black beer with a hint of brown at the fringes.

S - This smells a lot like the regular verison, which I didn't find very bourbon-heavy. There's some mild vinous character, but I don't think I could identify port or brandy tasting this blind. In fact, I'd have a hard time distinguishing from regular Conquistador De Muerte without tasting them next to each other. In any case it's delicious, with huge chili aroma, oak, and plenty of roasted malts.

T - Taste is again quite roasty, with some green pepper flavor, a bit of sweetness, and a light vinous note at the periphery. Not much in the way of alcohol, although there's some Scoville burn in the finish.

M - Smooth, medium-full body, with very low carbonation. Obvious chili heat in the finish. Not overly tannic - guessing the port barrel was reused a few times before it held this beer.

D - I think this is a mild improvement on the bourbon version. Great twist on an already great beer, with the vinous notes integrating quite well. Probably couldn't have more than a few pours before the chili got too intense, but delicious for the first 8-12oz. Hope they make this one again.

Bottle 146 of 217. FYI if you're fortunate enough to open one of these let it sit a little after the first sip. Starts off as a chunky I integrated beer. Good parts, but no cohesion. With a little air all the parts blend ltogether

Smell - initially smells like port. Fig and grape. Pepper comes through on the back of the smell initially. When it warms up a great combination of it all.

Taste - same story as the smell.

Poured from a bottle to a plastic cup while waiting to purchase tickets to The Great Taste of the Midwest

Appearance: Dark, slight red hue. No head to speak of.

Smell: The nose is sweet, port, and peppers. Some alcohol.

Taste: Sweet, immediately detectable.

Mouthfeel: This is the most interesting aspect. It's flat upfront, fairly thin bodied, with a slightly sticky texture. It finishes though with the heat in the back of the throat from the peppers.

Overall: While maybe not popular with others that have tried this, I found it to be outstanding. I enjoy chilis, and peppers, etc. I enjoy port, and the base beer (Moloko) that they used for this. In fact I thought Three Floyds did a good job of representing each aspect they brought into this. I wish I could find another bottle some time.

Tried on tap at Floyds, 29 Sep 2011. Served in a small tulip.

No head or carbonation to speak of. Very dark brown w reddish highlights. Aroma is sweet chocolate and chile peppers, with a touch of oakiness. Starts much the same, chocolately with a slight pepper bite. The chili and chocolate intertwine throughout, with the pepper winning out towards the end. The port adds a nice oaky grapiness in the background. Medium body, alcohol is hidden due to the chiles I suspect. A long lingering warming spicy finish and aftertaste ultimately dominate.

A Japanese jauillo chile in a conquistador? As EZ says, 'pendejos!'.

Edit: apparently jauillo peppers don't exist... my best guess is that they are referring to a guajillo.

Pours pretty thick and gluggy, for a milk stout. Just from the looks of it I would have guessed it was an imperial...

Smells like a milk stout, mostly, only with a pronounced peppery tang. (I made a point of ordering this along with a Drunk Monk, and then letting it warm while I drank the DM, because pepper beers never smell or taste very spicy unless they are at room temp). The combination works pretty well, although it's nothing amazing.

Tastes same as it smells--good enough to be non-gimmicky, but not so good as to be the prototype for a new genre. The malt is chocolately and sweet with barely any bitter nodes whatsover. There's a little kiss of extrasweet malodextrin near the middle, but that's quickly eclipsed by little spike of peppery tang. Milk sugar lingers, nice and sweet.
