Poured from bottle. Review from notes...
A- Pours a dark brown color almost black but not quite there. One and a half finger mocha colored head shows great retention. Light spotty lacing as I drink the beer down.
S- Roasted malts come out first with a light sweet chocolate malt as well. This turns more into a sweetness of chocolate toward the middle with some earthy hops toward the end. This balances the malts but only for a short second.
T- Roasted malts come into play first like the aroma. Milk chocolate like taste comes out as well. The middle of the beer combines of both coffee and chocolate more like a chocolate covered coffee bean. The ending gets a little more bitter in the coffee flavor with some light bitter hops in the very end
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation was good for the beer and style. The beer seems to coat everything it touches. Flavors were chocolate covered coffee beans left on both the palate and it lasts long into the aftertaste with light alcohol flavors. Beer itself was very balanced and I couldn't have been more happy with that. Light drying on the palate during the session.
D- This was a very drinkable porter that has jumped leaps and bounds in my eyes. Three Floyds has this problem with making knock out beers left and right....what a problem to have!

A: Pours a murky brown-black with an enormous, thick khaki head that takes some time to recede.
S: Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, burnt toast, roasted grain, and kola nut vie for dominance against aromas of grass, herbs, grapefruit, lemon, lime, bitter orange, and juniper berry.
T: The entry offers up notes of coffee, dark chocolate, heavy cream, vanilla bean, leather, burnt toast, dried black cherry, kola nut, and roasted grain which are chased by flavors of lemon, lime, grapefruit, kumquat, bitter orange, herbs, grass, cedar, and juniper berry. The finish is slick and oily with a turbulent balance of roasted malt, bitter citrus, and pungent herb flavors.
M: Medium-bodied, slick, and silky. Carbonation is gentle and unobtrusive. All in all, this beer could stand to feature carbonation that is a little firmer, but this is a very minor qualm.
O: This is an excellent porter, one that expertly presents a balance of malt and hop aromas and flavors. I would recommend it highly to fans of the style.
