pours a deep brown that is almost black, with a thick, dark head that lingers and clings to the glass and leaves plenty of lacing.
aroma is dominated by hops, with a slight coffee and dark chocolate smell in the background
flavour is very hoppy, but a mellow/smooth hoppiness. some of the roasty porter flavour comes through at the end, but it is mainly dominated by hops. the intense hoppiness makes me think of it being closer to an american style IPA than a porter, but i found as it warmed the bigger body and flavour of the porter was able to come out more. while very hoppy there isn't much hop bitterness, so the dark chocolate and roasty flavours can come through.
overall very good and quite drinkable. i'd definitely have this one again.
