A: Pours flat black in color and has a visible viscosity to it. Forms a small tan head that is thicker around the edges of the glass. Decent retention. Light lacing.
S: Aroma is of roasted malts and a little coffee with some grassy hops.
T: More roasted malts and lots of grassy hops. Surprisingly heavy on the hops. Coffee and a slight acidity.
M: Heavy body, but lighter than either DL or Black Albert. Good carbonation and an appreciable bitterness.
O: A good beer, though I've got to wonder where all the hops are coming from as I don't recall any of the "component" beers being very hoppy. Makes me think this beer is more than the sum of it's ingredients. In the end I found this one is almost a combination of an Imperial stout and a Black IPA. Rather interesting.
