2006 bottling. Served at room temperature.
Very large active cascading head, and a scant one finger of liquid under.head and liquid eventually even out. Head is dark tan, liquid is just black. There's a slight cola fringe when held to the light.
First thing that hits you onthe nose is deep dark molasses, then dark cherries, rasins, and some almond. Eventually a chocolatey/smoky smell emerges.
A smokiness hits me right up front. A lovely sort of burnt molasses hits right after, then some rasin, and a little cherry. There's awoodinessthatdevolps high on the palate as it progresses, along with a pronounced bitternes. Rather nice. Very in-your-face, but that's the point.
Mouthfeel is very nice- with a hearty thick liquid paired up with a rather miniscule carbonation.
I find this one amazngly drinkable- but not quite as drinkable as the bourbon barrel aged 05 Dark Lord.
