Pours a rich, viscous, extremely dark brown body. Head is pretty small and mahogany brown in color. Head retention and lacing are pretty average for such a strong beer. Appearance gets half a point extra for such a thick pour.
Smell is of sweet chocolate syrup, roasted coffee, and some booze. Thats about it, chocolate and coffee overpower the nose
Taste is very sweet. At first I get Hershey's chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and burnt malts. Reminds me of Sothern Tier Choklat mixed with GI Bourbon County minus the apparent bourbon, also tasted some characteristics of port as well. Hops are very light and alcohol, for being 15%, isnt too strong.
Mouthfeel is very rich and thick. Carbonation is good which lightens the syrupy consistency. Unfortunately head died rather fast and didnt add much to the beer.
Drinkability was good. For such a strong beer I was able to finish the bomber but I dont recommend it if you're planning on doing else for the rest of the day. The only downside to this beer was that after about half the bottle the overly sweetness started to get to me and I wished it was balanced a bit more. On the other hand, this stout pairs great with a Brownie a la mode and is the perfect dessert beer.
