Many thanks to BA mikesgroove for hooking me up with this one. Dude is one alright guy...
Deep, rich, and dark black in appearance, a huge head of creamy dark brown goodness stood firmly atop, but still laced well.
Aromas were sweet of dried dark fruit some burnt raisins (as my wife pointed out), spice, lots of great coffee and cocoa notes.
Smooth, luxurious and sumptuous on the palate. No more can be said.
Highly intense flavor with a symphony of dark stone fruit, caramel, high-quality chocolate, coffee, and of course the hops. Amazingly, this is not at all cloying.
I was floored with just how drinkable this brew was. I expected it to be far too big to really get into. I was wrong. Balanced (as much so as it could be) yet very pronounced, this is classic. Not my style of Bier, not my preferred ABV, but a stellar brew nonetheless.
