Received courtesy of that great BA Mentor. Thanks! I am sharing the bottle with Stopper at just below room temperature in a pint glass.
I begin to pour the beer into my glass. Holy viscosity Duffman! The beer pours incredibly thick and is pitch black witha dense creamy tan head foaming up easily and gradually fading to a sturdy surface layer.
Aroma is rich malt with roasted hits and dark chocolate with some raisin and espresso notes as well.
First sip is deep with a heavy filling body with fine gentle carbonation.
Flavor starts sweet with brown sugar and chocolate dominant and then moves to an espresso bitter finish with an appearance by the alcohol with a warming sensation down the throat to my belly. The finish is also fairly dry and bitter.
The beer leaves a sweet sticky residue on my lips after each sip. This is a very tasty beer, I am amazed at the lack of alcohol presence and also surprised that the bitter coffee finish, when I expected more of a twangy sweet finish. Quite a nice beer and well worth the quest many take to obtain it!
