In the seemingly endless cruelty, battle, and strife of the Hyborian age, a warrior has but two pleasures: Decimating one’s enemies in battle, and a horn of Cimmerian Sabertooth Berzerker to slake the thirst of victory.

This pours a hazy dry tangerine color with a thick meniscus of beige tan head, giving off a full dried green citrus hops aroma. More complexity grows in the nose, with some tangerine and dry spicy hops character. The finish has some woody green hops that are almost brassy in character. The dry spicy dark green hops taste is full of pithy flavor but soft on the pungency. The finish has a cat pee hops flavor that grows in the finish but never dominates. The hops have a slight metallic taste but it is not offensive as it opens. The mouthfeel has a spicy little fizz that leads to a creamy texture in the finish.

Big delicious hop flavor but lots of nice depth and unique character really makes this beer easy to drink for such a big beast. Not much bitterness to slow it down.

16oz can. Bottom date stamp reads 'PKGD ON 01/15/24'.
Partly cloudy deep gold colored body. Body is shimmering with small particles. One finger of white head, and this evolves into a partial cap and fluffy, high ring. Leaves behind big lacing sections and strings.
Aroma of dank citrus, with a bit of spice but also sweetness.
Taste is up high sweet but the blast of dank bitterness threatens to overflow but stays in a good balance. Orange crystal sweet marmalade with a backwash of hoppy dank bitterness. Aftertaste is similar to an orange frozen treat.
More than medium mouth feel, with a syrup-like texture. Coats the mouth but still has a dry finish. Very good carbonation.
Expressive and well balanced brew in the West Coast IPA style.

16oz can poured into a snifter
About 6 weeks old

A- pours a clear golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that reduces to a thin film on top

S- classic west coast ipa aromas; zesty orange and grapefruit, resinous pine, grass and some bready malt. A hint of booze as well

T- bitter resinous piney hops up front are quickly followed by a zesty and pithy orange. MId-palate brings out some bready malt, the finish is a bitter bomb, with more orange zest and booze on the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy moutfheel that turns creamy into a slightly warming finish

O- in true FFF fashion, a classic west coast style bitter bomb

16oz can PKGD 01/15/24 (40 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 9% ABV. The beer pours bright medium amber with lots of khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a complete web of lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is candied citrus and pine with caramel. The taste is bittersweet orange / peach with piney & earthy hop notes and firm, strong bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Sticky with hop resin, but not overly sweet. Overall, excellent.

16oz can; PKGD 01/15/24
L: amber colored ale with a foamy ivory head
S: citrus, pine resin, caramelized grain
T: huge pungent bitterness with notes of pine, grapefruit & orange zest, apricot, caramel, and bread crust
F: full body, very resinous with hip oils sticking to the palate; booze is warming and present in flavor; finish is semi-dry and pungently bitter with pine lingering
O: I forgot how much I love a bitter, punch-to-the-mouth beer! This was great!

Holy shit, the label! Even though I really appreciate the new artwork that some of their classic brands are sporting, I love that they are still rocking the old art for this one, except now on pint cans with an awesomely textured paint! Still, I don't think I ever got to try any of the original releases of this particular IPA, so you know I had to jump on this 2024 drop.

The ale's appearance is lightly chill fogged orange-amber with a tall, puffy head of khaki foam.

Flame licked orange zest and liqueur meet resinous pine while remaining quaffably foamy with crisp flavors due to a barely perceptible malt. What's there is mildly toasty, but this is an assertively aggressive blast from FFF catalogue's past that, to my palate, resurfaces a latent appreciation for well done, aggressively bitter and slightly boozy, clean American hops without going overboard. Because despite all that potency, citruses and even some tropics continue to explode all throughout the session. It's even a bit stonefruity.

Another winner from three Floyds. I have not seen this one before and I would be more than happy to put it into the regular rotation. But I have a feeling I’m just gonna have to grab it when I see it.

Definitely worth checking out.

Boozy taste - the closest I can think of is the cherry Sucrets cough drops I had as a kid.
Nose is a bit sweet and it quickly moves to bitter.
Not my favorite from 3 Floyds, but certainly unique and worth a try.
