Thanks to Brendan for this one. Side-by-side with all the other BA Dark Lords. Missed the bottle number for this one. Into a snifter. From notes.

Same appearance as the other Dark Lords.

Chili is apparent right off the bat. Some chocolate, cocoa, with a mild booziness. Some dark fruit lingers around in there also. Nice and bold.

Big spice and sweetness throughout. Some chocolate, dark fruit, fudge, and molasses sweetness. Chilies get bigger and bigger right before the finish. Spicy, heat in the aftertaste. Really solid.

Same body as the other Dark Lords.

This beer makes me a bit more of a believer in chili beers. The heat at the end adds a different dimension not often seen in these big stouts and surprisingly, it works very well. Worth taking a chance on!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt with quite a bit of residual sugar with some chili’s notes coming through. Taste is quite heavy with loads of dry roasted malt with some strong spicy chili’s notes that offset most of the residual sugars and barrel treatment. Body is full with medium carbonation and alcohol is totally hidden by the chili notes. Interesting experiment but I would like the head to be dropped a bit too increase drinkability.

Thanks!

Black as pitch with no head formation and little carbonation. The nose is shockingly pleasant compared to last year's train wreck that was bourbon de muerte. Peppers are dominant but thankfully are not disgustingly vegetal and grassy; they have more of a dried pepper quality. There's a bit of spiciness to it, and a good dose of sweet, fruity cognac and dark chocolate. The palate shows a great balance between peppers, barrel and beer. Peppers lend some warming heat that isn't obnoxious, and also balance out the sweetness. There isn't much oak to speak of, but there is a good amount of sweet cognac flavor here that works well with the signature chocolate and vanilla Dark Lord flavors. This is great stuff, my favorite of the 2012 BA Dark Lords.

Bomber from the end of year Ottawa Tasting

Appearance - Dark brown colour with a small size frothy brown head. I can't make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, chocolate, coffee, peppers

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, rich chocolate, and vanilla. There is also some coffee and a whack of spicy/peppery notes.

Overall - I am not a fan of chilli beers to begin with. This was on of the better ones I've had though. Perhaps because the other flavours in the beer are big and bold enough to compete with the peppers.
