This beer is Robert the Bruce aged in Templeton rye whiskey barrels with berries. Bottle into a taster glass.

Murky burgundy. Cloudy. Thin, fizzy tan head.

The nose: Raspberry, blueberry, blackberry. Cocoa, vanilla, caramel. A little dark chocolate, some oak. Very sweet and fruity.

The flavor: Less berry, more chocolate, softer barrel. Alcohol, black, raz, grape, a tiny hint of vanilla and oak. Not a lot of whiskey. Tangy.

Medium body, mild carbonation, holds together well.

More like juice than beer, overall. Good, not great.

Cabra
First and foremost. I want to thank Sleuthdog for opening this one.So much appreciation man

A: very dark caramel brown, with a huge 2 fingers worth ofan off-white head formation. The lacing is massive and long lasting. Held directly up to the light, just a slight hint of ruby shine through but overall, not much of a color change.

S: this is such a massive nose I don’t know where to begin, but ill try… raspbhery to the exponential power assaults the nose (in a good way). I also get a strong woody/barrel aspect and other dark fruit, with a slight touch of chocolate that attempt to tone the nose down a bit, but the immense raspberries simpy dominate.

T: raspberries right up front and in your face with a decent amount of toffee and slight chocolate sweetness. But there is really nothing else to the body of this. It’s a nice balance, just wish there was a bitmore complexity to it due the price of the bottle.

M: much thinner than it should. No carbonation whatsoever. Possibly held to long??? Doesn’t leave much on the palate other than a hint of raspberry, but its more bitter than tart

O: way off balanced brew here. And I really wanted to like this one. Raspberries right up front from the nose and the taste, and the mouth feel simply lacks. Average beer at best, but not worth the price

Poured into Kuhnhenn tulip

Pour: Dark, dark red? Almost brown in color with a 2 finger head. No light penetration.

Smell: Big notes of the raspberry up front with a sweet caramel malt. Some notes of the Rye with a spice to the nose.

Taste: Again the raspberry dominates and I do get the spice from the rye. A sweet beer for sure and one I'd consider as dessert beer. Sweetness and raspberry with a touch of toffee. Actually a one dimensional beer and not very interesting to the palate.

Mouthfeel: Quite thin and disappointing with little to no carbonation.

Overall: Not mind blowing and pretty disappointing considering the price tag.
