This super hoppy and super malty brown IPA was brewed with our friend James from Brodie’s Fabulous Ales in the ‘fashionable’ East End of London.

Had this on tap at the pub.

A - Clear amber color with a white head. It is a nice looking brew. Drink the drink process it left a nice lacer on the glass.

S - It has a sharp pine smell with a nutty back. I was not sure if it was going to be really hoppy or really malty

T - I dont know why but I kept thinking of menthol Cigs when tasting this beer, maybe it was just the name. It is a English mild malt with pine flovor hops

M - I though this beer was a little thin. No much body. Cabonation level was nice though

O - Though this beer was OK nothing mind blowing a good showing from three floyds

On-tap at Three Floyds. Served in a half pint glass.

A - Clear amber to brown with a nice thick head that settled to a 1/4"cap. heavy lacing.

S - slight nut and pine. hops giving off nice citrus scent and just a touch of breadiness.

T - picking up more of an English mild with the maltiness, maybe a touch of peat. the finish is all american hoppiness though, a unique combo.

M - carbonation is spot on, very slight pretense of the alcohol. nice combination of the earthy peatiness and citrus from the hops lingering.

O - really enjoyable, don't know if they ever bottled this but i could drink a lot of this

Had on tap at 3F Brewpub in Munster. Poured transparent brown into a half pint glass. One finger head, off white with good retention. Hoppy brown ale with a great roasted coffee-like aftertaste. Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. Would definitely recommend if you happen to stop by at the brewpub. Wish they would bottle this.

Served in a half pint on tap at the FFF Brewpub.

A - At first sight, it looks like a standard brown ale. There is a small off-white head and a little bit of lacing.

S - The smell is all hops. Citrus and pine hops.

T - One of the more unique tasting beers I've ever had. It has that big hop punch up front, but a sweet and nutty malt backing. I wouldn't think that this would be a great combination, but it works... very well!

M - Mouthfeel is medium. Not overly thick or thin. While it is not really a session beer, I could see myself putting down a few half pints without a problem.

O - If you stop by the brewpub, this is a must try! I'd like to see it in bottles someday...

I don't normally read reviews of a beer I'm about to review, but I found myself absent mindedly perusing some reviews as I was engaged in a mediocre conversation...
I must admit right away-- masterski nailed it on his review.

The beer has a sugar cookie malt with a touch of caramel and then citrus and pine hops.
Very hoppy. Very malty. Bit nutty.
Pretty tasty.

Call this a malty ipa and I will tell you it's terrible... As a brown ale-- I like it.

As masterski said-- this is like an English malt bill brown ale with a west coast ipa hop profile.
Just tasty.

This poured out as a nice transparent brown color, the head was an off white color with a good retention and a decent amount of lacing. The smell of the beer is hoppy with some roasted malt aromas in there too, some light hints of chocolate or coffee. The taste of the beer is sweet in the beginning and switches over to roasted while finishing off with a big bitterness. The mouthfeel was clean and crisp, it was lighter bodied and very drinkable. Overall it's a good brew, I was happy I got to try it.

Enjoyed on tap at the Three Floyds Brewpub. Served in a nonic half pint glass.

Dark caramel brown with a one finger light beige head. Toffee, hints of chocolate malt, and bread on the nose. Malty, toasty biscuity body, nutty caramel, and almond. Finishes dry with piney hop bite. Medium bodied, slick and smooth, perfectly carbonated. The sweet English malts and bitter American hops provide an interesting contrast and balance each other. An extremely interesting taste experinence.

A - Dark brown with a thin body. Slightly reflective and clear. Came out a small white head.

S - Sweet caramel malt and west coast hops giving it a strong pine and grapefruit nose. There is also a slight orange peel that reminds you it is a brown ale

T - Stormg west coast hops with grapefruit and pine. Orange peel and carmel malt balance it out. Slight smokiness in the finish. Pine lingers on in the finish to give it a bitter bite. Nice complexity to have the brown ale crossed with the hoppy presence

MF - Nice carbonation with a medium body leaves it feeling nice and smooth

O - Unique and complex hoppy, brown ale. Love how the elements of the brown ale play off the aggressive hop profile.

A-not as dark as I'd imagined, copper/light brown, slightly hazy

S-big hops, marmalade, oaky vanillaish, a little bit of roastiness

T-Ever so slightly roasted, nice hop flavor that matches the nose with marmalade and vanilla. Very balanced on the bitterness, no sharp or acrid notes.

M-A bit more body than a typical IPA type of beer, but it still finishes very dry.

O-Pretty solid offering overall, it was more like an IPA than anykind of american brown ale. I really enjoyed the big hop profile and the deviation from the super piney, citrus flavors.

A - White foam settles to a creamy cap and nice lacework. Transparent brown body.

S - Toasty brown malts, some buttered biscuit, a tad nutty, but with citrus and tropical hops, and a hint of pine.

T - Nicely roasty and bitter, with less overt brown sugar sweetness. Sugar cookie malts, a touch of biscuit. English malt character, but with American-style hopping.

M - Very dry and toasty texture - a touch gritty, with zesty carbonation. Medium bodied, with minimal alcohol presence.

D - I liked this quite a bit. Advertised as a Brown IPA this delivers exactly what you'd expect - nice English Brown Ale malts but with a West Coast hop bill.
