This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Now this is a saison! This refreshing Belgian-style ale is the combined effort of Three Floyds and De Molen’s fantastic brewer Menno (the real Dutch Hercules). This spicy and bracing ale was brewed in Munster, but look out for the one we brew in Holland at DeMolen. Cheers and drost!

Thanks to Patty and Jay for this one!

Poured into a Goose Island wine Glass

A: Pours a dark orange color with minimal head

S: Loads of citrus here. Really wasn't expecting this much even though I'd heard a ton about it.

T: Citrus is right up front there. Not much of a traditional Saison taste but really delicious regardless.

M: A little heavy for me with a saison but hides the abv pretty well

O: What a great beer. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was even with the hyped up previews I had. It almost tastes like a saisonified Zombie Dust (Patty you were right) Grab this one if you get a chance!

This beer is amazing. I have been waiting for a great follow up from some of the stuff released at Dark Lord like to live a rich life. This is great. Just picked up the Cognac Moloko and Risgoop as well as Camulet Queen last night. I have already taken down three of the Zes Zes Zes because it is so good. Diffently the stand out of all of them. I don't know how they do it. But 3 Floyd's remains the Kings of the beer world. And there isn't a close second.

A - hazy tangerine with thick 1" head (12 oz snifter) and sticky lacing
S - sweet tropical fruits (passionfruit, mango) mixed with slight grassy hops, classic FFF combo
T - same fruit and some caramel/bread are strong with slight pepper and faint yeast, sweet with some bitterness on the finish
M - medium carbonation overwhelmed somewhat by the viscosity, sweet with slight sour and dry aftertaste
O - immediately distinguishable as FFF with the tropical sweetness and thick hazy appearance. much more dense than typical saisons and clearly closer to a strong ipa than a traditional saison. almost no detectable peppery sourness, which doesn't mean its a bad beer, just farther from the style than i would prefer. the most lacking element is the classic aromatic yeast that is quintessential to a true saison. perhaps it should be rebadged as a belgian strong ipa? definitely worth checking out.

Had on tap the source. Served in a stemmed tulip.

A: Pours a semi clear amber color with a thick white head forming on the pour. It's about one finger in height and it recedes slowly leaving behind sticky sheets of lace.

S: The citris hop profile on the nose really jumps out at you with some orange and lemon zest as well. Sweet Belgian yeast cuts through on the back end with some refined malts.

T: Spicy belgian yeast, with a little bit of pepper and clove, is up front. Nice grassy hops and citrus zest with a semi-bitter grapefruit pith on the finish. Sweet malt body. Well hidden booze for 8.5%

M: Medium bodied with a little heft to it. Great prickly carbonation with a drying finish.

O: A well crafted saison with a little body to it. Obviously I'd like it a little lighter to make it a little more easy drinking, but the flavor profile gets you past that. Definitely recommed for any saison fan.

On-tap at FFF. 8 oz. served in a tulip on August 18th, 2012.

A - Very cloudy, medium-golden coloring, with a white fluffy head and fantastic lacing.

S - Buttered rye bread, allspice, cinnamon, black pepper, fresh grass, and herbs.

T - Pretty big for a saison. Mid-palate has a great citrus bitterness blended with a sweet bread and rich caramel. Generally sweet but delectable.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, semi-dry finish. Well-hidden 8%.

D - Favorite at the brewpub on this day. More robust than refreshing but quite drinkable and dangerous.

On-tap at 3 Floyds. Served in a tulip.

A - Big white foam settles to a thin cap, thick collar, and splotchy lacework. Hazy dark orange body.

S - Surprisingly sweet and malty for the style, with some bready Belgian yeast, and a touch of spice to it.

T - The taste is again quite sweet, with hefty doses of marmalade and stone fruit. Spicy yeast, some flowery hopping, and a lightly bitter finish. Not much alcohol considering this is over 8%.

M - Lightly grainy texture, medium body, with active carbonation. Well-hidden alcohol and a clean, refreshing finish.

D - While this is too sweet for my tastes it's a well-made Saison. The alcohol is extremely deceptive, so be careful if you're driving home from 3 Floyds.
