a hazy copper pour with 2 fingers of bright white head which left behind some really nice lacing. smells very citrusy, piney, floral - all i am getting is hops, and well, it's a double ipa from 3F - this is obviously not a bad sign.
the flavor starts off with a slight earthy bitterness then moves immediately to a sweet citrus tangy flavor that i can't even describe other than pineapple. grapefruit, burnt caramel are there, but mostly a nice citrusy tangy flavor that i can't quite pin down.. this is a very delicious flavor that i just can't allow myself to drink at a steady pace, though i'm trying my hardest to not let it end.
a medium body ipa with mild amount of carbonation, which is my only real gripe with this beer. i wish it was slightly more carbonated. the citrusy flavor would have worked perfectly with it. the hops leave a ridiculously sticky sensation, which just begs your lips to be dipped into this juicy nectar again and again.
it's early on in the year and i've already found one of my top ipa's this year. totally worth the trade i did (this and a behemoth for 12 nugget nectars). such a sweet citrusy, tangy, delicious treat.

22oz bottle served in a standard pint glass.
L - hazy mustard color with a fluffy off-white head that settled to a layer leaving small globs and sheets of lacing behind.
S - tropical fruits and rye malt.
T - lots of tropical fruit flavor with the spiceness of the rye coming through finishing somewhat sweet and somewhat tart.
F - medium bodied with a creamy smooth feel.
O - a nice example of the style with a rye kick.

Three Floyds rocks! this is a high quality awesome Rye India Pale Ale. Pours a nice head and looks amazing in the glass, mouth watering! Good aroma and a solid A in taste. I would buy this again for sure. If you can get this brew...buy it! Just an impressive beer with a nice bite.
Bottom Line: Great beer for the style!

Bomber poured into snifter.
Appearance-light apricot, 1 finger white head, nice lacing on side of glass. 4.25
Aroma-orange, grapefruit, ground pepper, peach, cherry, grilled pineapple. 4.25
Taste-strong citrus and strong black pepper up front, orange zest, sun tea, rye bread. 4.75
Feel-medium to full bodied, lots of carbonation at first, coats palate fully, after lasts a while. 4.5
Overall-great flavor from this beer, nice combo of rye and citrus. This is my first three floyds brew and if this is any indication I will be a fan for life. I only get a chance to purchase three floyds once every month or two because that don't come to my area. I might have to make a trip to norther Indiana soon. 4.5

Bottle to Bavarian Lodge Tulip
Purchased from Famous Liquors, Forest Park, IL for 10.99
App- When I poured this out, It was a bit deeper orange. Looks like a very good beer in the glass. A deep yellow color intermixed with some other colors. A nice and puffy two finger head with some very nice and deep cling.
Smell- Big floral hops on this one. Not too much citrus. A faint grapefruit/tangerine. A bit of a wheat smell in there as well.
Taste- A very good IPA. It's tasty and crisp and clean. Slightly spicy with a balanced citrus back. Not overpowering and a nice drinker. The flavors are accentuated with a bit of resin and pine. So you get the whole thing in one go. Fruit, Rye, Hops, Pine, Resin
Mouth- Medium bodied with a medium carb level. Coats the tounge well with spicy flavor. Leaves a pleasant sweet grapefruit aftertaste.
Drink- I like me some FFF. I wish I would have bought more of these. This was a damn good rye IPA.
