Impressions of first few sips: You ever been drinking a good Belgian Strong and thought to yourself "gee , this would be better if it was infused with fruity smelling candle wax?" No? Well I haven't either.

Impressions of sips after the first few: eh, it grows on you. The fruit starts to taste more like fruit and less like chemical imitations of fruit. Still, the spice profile ain't very good, and there's no malt or anything to help balance it out.

A - Fairly clear orange, amber with a thin white head and a streak or two of lace.

S - Spicy, phenolic yeast and fruity esters. Cotton candy like sweetness.

T - Stone fruits, spicy yeast, fruity esters, light floral hop.

M - Medium body, well carbonated, sweet with dry finish, alcohol is well hidden but has slight warming sting on the tongue.

D - Solid beer.

I picked this up at the brewpub a couple of weeks ago.

Served in an Elysian tulip.

A: Poured a fairly clear orange color, with a slight bit of chill haze. The head was about 1/3 head and clung to the glass and then some.

S: Not extremely potent, but just enough. Breakfast cereal, mild citrus, and funky Belgian yeast strain.

T: One would have to have a microscope to detect any FFF activity surrounding this, but it was still pretty good, but not great. The finish was pretty smooth, the overall flavor profile yelled saison to me, and the citrus was of the fresh variety.

M: Not too sweet, moderate lacing, and good carbonation bill. Nothing wrong with it.

O: For $10/bomber, I expected more, but I guess that is what everyone says about FFF.

Bomber poured in to a tulip while spinning "Gin" by Cobalt.

A- Hazy amber/orange typical of the style, maybe a little foggier. Slight head which decreased to a thin, consistent layer. slight lacing, not much to speak of.

S- Classic FFF hoppy notes right away, followed by a faint corriander.

T- A little bready right off, then again citrus hoppiness, some alcohol, and finally almost- I know, weird- bubblegummy.

M- Fantastic. Haven't had a Three Floyds with bad mouthfeel yet.

O- This one is not on the favorites list. I have had just a few experiences with their takes on the Belgian styles, and I feel this just doesn't balance well with their signature super citrus-y hoppiness. The aforementioned Zes Zes Zes was quite the opposite, beautifully balanced, but that is for another review. By no means bad, I just wouldn't make a trip back to the brewpub to specifically buy this beer (though there is never a bad reason to go by).

Poured from Bomber into a pint glass at my girlfriends. The best I could do for glassware for this beer.

A-Pours a golden color with a slight white foamy head that recedes fairly quickly.

S-Smells like many other Three Floyds beers without so much of the hops. Fruit. Grass. Vegetable. Not an overwhelming smell.

T-Fruit, citrus, booze, grass. Bread in the finish.

M-Very nice mouth full. This was probably what I enjoyed most about the beer. Nice medium to full body beer.

O-Enjoyed this beer very much. Very nice taste and mouthful. Not much of a smell. Very drinkable at first, but as you get to the end of the bomber the alcohol shows up more. Haven't had too many Belgian Strong Ales, so this is very new to me and I don't have much to compare to.. Liked this beer a lot, and will experiment more with this style.

Thanks to Adam for this bottle. About a month or so from bottling. Poured in to FFF teku glass.

A - Medium orange/yellow in colour. Only very slightly translucent with half a finger of cream coloured head.

S - Big Belgian yeast aroma up front along with cloves, banana, spice, a hint of citrus and some bready malt aromas in the background.

T - Extremely dry throughout. Belgian yeast, clove, banana, peppery spices and a fairly substantial bready malt backbone. A light floral hop profile is present as well.

M - Medium body, creamy. Light to moderate carbonation. Extremely dry.
