750mL bottle shared at tasting, with huge thanks to Joe. Reviewed from notes.
Dark chocolate, not your typical jet black or motor-oil appearance, with a fleeting saffron head that falls to nought. Decent ABV legs on swirling.
Fairly dominant umami theme, with plenty of soy sauce, vegemite, toasted bread and cocoa nibs, assisted by the dry finish from the oak. Fleeting sweet notes of dates and molasses in the taste, becoming a little more promient over the course but remaining firmly as back notes.
As the appearance suggests the mouthfeel is not super thick. Dry, dark chocolatey bitterness and minimal booze heat.
Quite a solid RIS, but didn't wow me. The barrel notes seem subdued, un-bourbony, and work largely to make for a nice clean flavour profile, but overall seems lacking in complexity and presence.

A - Dark chocolate brown with no head to it
S - Bourbon notes, chocolate, vanilla, fudge and coffee notes make up a great nose
T - Bourbon vanilla sweetness up front with lots of chocolate and caramel. Dates, brown sugar and oak. Loads of butterscotch to it. This is one flavorful beer that really impresses
M - Silky smooth with minimal carbonation to it. Finish is slightly strong alcohol and oak
O - Really a great BA beer from FFF with great sweetness and barrel to it. Reminds me a bit of brandy vanilla DL but not as marshmallowy

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Black. Decent khaki head. Leggy. Chunky collar.
Smell - Incredible bourbon aroma. Vanilla and oak. Oak is strong. Booze and chocolate. Some coffee. The slightest bit of licorice.
Taste - Chocolate and booze up front. Bourbon is just as good as the smell. Rich chocolate all over. Oak very strong. Just incredible.
Mouthfeel - It's hella boozy. Medium carbonation. Heavy, but not too sugary.
Overall - This is one of the best bourbon stouts I've had in a long time.
