Three Floyd's Brewpub
Backpacking is as black as the river Styx. Inky and menacing. Tiny carbonation bubbles creep to the surface in lockstep keeping the chocolate milk head at sharp attention. The foam is frothy and seems to be everlasting. Frothy lace clings briefly to the glass before sinking back to the depths.
The nose is stuffed full of mouthwatering deliciousness. Powdery cocoa, moist tobacco leaves, and a hint of Hershey's syrup flavored chocolate milk all weave in and out of the light roast. Macerated berries show themselves with some warmth while a tendril of smoke and a ghostly pine hoppiness make for abnormal depth.
Dusty cocoa and moist tobacco again kick things off. The middle sweetens up briefly with the exact chocolate milk I mentioned in the nose before quickly bittering up with a moderate roast. Mild tootsie roll sweetness rises on the rear again before moderate roast and mild bitterness take over and linger.
The weight runs between medium and heavy on the spectrum while the oat adds incredible silkiness. A clean, drying booze runs up the nose but dries the mouthfeel before a mild to moderate roast and hop bitterness lingers after the swallow cleaning up any residual sweetness.
Three Floyd's can brew. An oatmeal stout from those guys? Fucking delicious! This beer has lactic sweetness, roast, balancing hop bitterness, and huge depth with a velvety mouthfeel you want to crawl into. I'll be drinking this when I see it from now on.
