A brownish black pour with 2 fingers of creme colored head leaving behind thick trails of lacing. A nice grapefruit/floral sweet aroma of hops makes itself very comfortable in the toasted grain bill. Chocolate and caramel, maybe some rye are all present in the nose.
The flavor is an aggressively hopped Chocolatey, biscuity ale. Bitter notes of pine mix well with toasted grains making this a really nice black ipa. Tastes like hoppy toasted rye bread.
Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.
Overall a nice example for the style. It been a while since I had an actual hoppy black ipa.
