22oz bottle from the Three Floyds store (Munster, IN). 10.00. No bottle date but presumably they wouldn't sell old beer at the brewery. Served in a Three Floyds teku.
Pours a deep, near-black, brown with two full fingers of dense khaki head. Nice even islands of lace left on the glass as I drink it down.
Smells like an imperial black ale. Big piney and citrus hops with nice charred malts blending in.
Taste follows the nose somewhat but much more complex. It's almost like hoppy chocolate. Pine, chocolate, candied grapefruit peel, milky lactose-like sweetness, charred malts, creamed coffee and mildly floral. A very slight alcohol bite. Really intetesting stradling of stout and black ale.
Creamy and a tad oily medium body with nice soft carbonation. Lingering bittersweet hop chocolate aftertaste.
Another hopped up treat from Three Floyds. Plenty of tasty roasty sweet stout goodness with more hop character than many IPAs I've tried. Zero problem finishing the bomber on my own in one sitting. I bought one to age but after tasting this I don't think that second bottle is going to last very much longer.

Spent one year in the cellar bough fresh from the brewery
Pours pitch black in color and pretty viscous. A big finger and a half foamy light tan head retains nicely.
Smell is good. Lots of roasted barley maybe some rye are forward in the nose and fade to a toffee aroma. an earthy hop aroma finishes.
Taste follows the nose with big roasted barley and rye flavors upfront. Malt is decently balanced with a mild bite, hints of tobacco and saddle leather, moderate earthy hop flavor and mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel is moderately thick with a little bit of stickiness and some oily hoppy resin.
Had I realized how hoppy this was I would have drank it fresh. Not a great stout but I'll give it the benifit of the doubt considering it's age.
