A: A big 4 finger head head was built on a moderatly aggresive pour in the 3Floyds Teku glass. The foam was a mocha, kahki colored with smaller bubbles at first that sustained for a minute or two. When it started to receed it became chuncky and honeycomb like and left a big lump inthe center and small traces of lacing on the edge. The beer is nearly opaque but when held to the sun a brownish mahogany hugh emerges.

S: When it was first poured there was a pronounced grapefruit hop aroma that made me think of "black IPA". However, as the foam fell, roasted malts, coffee and cocoa along with a hint of toast and chicory.

T: Lots of dark malt flavors; coffee, burnt toast, dark chocolate, chickory, roastey and vanilla and tobacco flavors that get more apperant as the beer warms up. A moderate pine like bitterness stays consistant thoughout. It finishes a lot dryer than expected so its not sweet like some bigger stouts can be but just malty and roasty.

M: Moderate carbonation that keeps the hops noticable but in check. A dryer finish and moderate body. No significant astringancy making it very drinkable.

O: I got 2 bottles of this from DLD '13, the first I split with a friend and remembered it being much more hoppy. I think the age made it more 'stout like' and less Black IPA like (which is a good thing) but I'm still not a huge fan of the chickory notes I'm getting from this (similar to "in the name of suffering") Good beer for any stout lover to try once.

(Served in a Nonic)
A- This beer pours a jet black body that I can only assume is the liquid wall of death color. There is a cocoa tan head that sticks in sheets on the glass and some microbubbles that pop out at the surface.

S- The pungent green fresh hop pellets aroma blends with some black char notes and some hints of black roasted malt come through in the finish.

T- The slightly sweet chocolate black roasted malt has an inky quality that grows as it opens and some pungent pine wood bitterness in the finish. There is a mellow char note with some chicory hints underneath and a tart hop note in the finish aswell.

M- The medium-full mouthfeel has a slight slippery finish

O- The mellow char and dark roasted black malts with slight sweetness is strong and nice and the tart green pungent hops are interesting with the chocolate qualities.

Smooth hoppy, fruity start with a bold chocolate finish. It grabs your taste buds before even hitting them. Amazing mixture of hops. A great dinner stout, light but just as filling as any other stout. A great beer to pair with a meat filled meal. Let it breathe for ten minutes and it tastes more like a stout than an ale.
