Really enjoying the hopier pale ales these days, and Space Station: Middle Finger from Three Floyds Hit the spot. Very hoppy but not overly bitter. Tropical, citrus, slight malt on the nose and taste. I usually don't buy bombers. This one, split with a fellow BA, was well worth the price. (289 characters)

Had this one at mattsanders tasting a ways back (from notes)

A hazy golden orange, some foam from a short pour, a few random polka dots for lace

S peach, nectarine, tangerine, mango, heaps of tropical fruit and not much else

T some pine and spruce to go with the tropical blast, a little lemon pith

M medium bodied, a little gritty on the palate, creams up from the bubbles, citrus lingers

O heaps of hops in something I could session, I easily could’ve drank a couple bottle by myself

I’d like another crack at this one, tasty stuff in something that won’t have you falling over (596 characters)

From notes. Clear deep golden color with a nice head and retention. Nice sweet and citrus aroma. Picks up a little earthy/herbal aroma as it warms. Taste follows with high sweetness, noticeable citrus and just a little pine and grass bitterness. Good malt balance although a little thin. Not the smoothest but still very drinkable. (336 characters)

Bomber 6/10 bottle date. My palate isn't sophisticated as most, so I defer to others on the details. But for me I smelled and tasted a bit of Belgian yeast in this one. I have no idea if there is anything close in there or not. If I was blind offered this as a Belgian IPA I would have said it is a nice mild version. Well worth the one and done, but I won't be seeking another. (378 characters)

Possibly the coolest bottle/name ever. Golden pale ale with 2 fingers of white head. Lemon peel, lemon grass, and citrus on the nose rounded out by a big floral hop presence. V. unique. Super clean and balanced flavors with the big floral punch complemented by the lemon grass/freshly mown grass notes... slightly earthy. Very clean and refreshing finish. Very nice overall enjoyment experience drinking this with a good buddy on bottling day. Another one of those brews that makes you stop, ponder, and enjoy this great hobby of beer advocacy! (544 characters)

Poured from a bomber that was bottled on 6/11/15 so it is fresh.

A: a beautiful yellow hue with pillows of pristine white fluffy foam. Lacing for miles
S: citrus citrus and more citrus
T: Tangerine pineapple pear and citrus rind.
MF: A light tasting ale with loads of citrus and bitterness that lingers
O: A home run
there is no doubt that 3Floyds knows their way around a pale ale. (390 characters)

A: The beer is clear yellowish amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down and consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of biscuity malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of biscuit malts and has some faint hints of tropical fruit hops, particularly mangos, which contribute a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a refreshing change of pace compared to most APAs as it isn't dominated by hops.

Aroma is light pine, spices and citrus. The flavor is citrus, biscuit/English malts, fruit, a hint of hop resin and a mix of tangy and mild bitterness in the finish. (165 characters)

Bomber to a snifter, date got smeared off

Pours a clear gold with a finger of foam. Good retention, moderate carbonation from the sides, okay lacing

Smells pretty balanced between the malts and the hops. A bit of pine and citrus against a sweet caramel bready malt. Really very crazy going on here

Taste translates pretty well. Mild citrus hops next to a slightly sweet bready back bone. Again, pretty simple

Feel is lightly bitter, light to moderate body. Alcohol is hidden well, easy to drink

Overall fff is better known for their bigger beers, but I get that this one is supposed to be pretty tame. Definitely is, I want to try zd a lot more though (657 characters)

A 22 oz. bomber with no indication of any bottled on or best before date on the bottle. Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy darkish orange colour with a thin white head that does stick around for a while.

Aroma: Smells a little weak, but of pine, citrus hops and grapefruit along with some caramel at the end as well.

Taste: A strong malt background of bread and caramel at first followed by citrus grapefruit and orange turning tropical fruit mango. Finish is a lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with medium carbonation and slightly sticky.

Overall: This was decent from 3 Floyds. It starts sweet and finishes bitter but overall I still easily prefer Zombie Dust. (698 characters)

22 oz. bottle poured into a bulbed pint glass. Comes out a hazy orange color. White head with minimal lacing, mostly small bubbles, a bit of it sticks around. Through the liquid you can slightly see through it when held up to the light and it glows a brighter amber.

Smells really good. Smells good and hoppy a nice malt backbone as well. Plenty of pine, citrus, citrus peel and tropical fruits like pinnacle and mango. Then there's mic aromas of crusty buttered bread drizzled with honey. Balanced American Pale ale, smells like it's going to taste great.

So the beer backslides quite a bit in the flavor department. Still hoppy but tastes a lot more mild than it does, I'm curious as to what the hop combination is here. Some good sweet pine and some weaker tones of citrus than pine. Tastes like there's a wheat malt mixed in with maybe a touch of biscuit or honey malt. Not bad but the combination I think could be complimented a little better. Something about the flavor just doesn't mesh the way I'd like it too, not bad, but it just doesn't seem to live up to potential to me. Nothing about the initial flavor is strong, but then it has some aftertaste with some potency.

Mouthfeel is just kind of odd. Seems like it's full bodied because there's something heavy about tit but it's kind of thin at the back end of the tongue. Modest carbonation level. Starts somewhat sweet goes to bitter with an oily finish. Pretty drinkable and it gets better as it gets closer to room temperature. Having this beer too chilled doesn't really do it any justice. Not a bad beer, but certainly not worth $13 a bomber, good but I'm not jumping on the Three Floyds fan club yet. (1,691 characters)

This is a solid American Pale Ale with a lot of malt and bread flavor added to a hint of citrus and melon or pear favors on the bitter aftertaste. Not my personal favorite beer, but I'm not a big fan of a plain pale ales, but I had to give this a try since I got a chance to get my hands on it. (294 characters)

Good beer, with all of the excellent pale ales that 3F makes, it's easy to gloss over one or two. I place this after zombie dust and above alpha king. (152 characters)

22 ounce bottle, bottled on 03/24/2015. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy orange/amber color with about an inch and a half frothy off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like mostly like pine and citrusy (oranges, citrus peel) hops, along with some bready malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like pine and citrusy (citrus peel, mango, tropical fruit) hops, grainy/bready malt and a bit of spicy hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. It's also smooth and goes down easy. I thought this was a pretty good APA, I'd like to try this one again in the future. $9.99 a bomber. (690 characters)

Look - Bright, golden/hazy orange color. Head is thick with thick bubbles. It is ivory. It does not stick around long.

Smell - Pine. Bread. Dank. Faint citrus.

Taste - Toasty. The smell doesn't follow through to the taste. There is pine and a faint citrus finish, but not as much as expected. The taste is good for a pale ale (as opposed to an IPA or DIPA/IIPA).

Feel - It is on the light side, but not like water. It doesn't explode as carbonation implicates.

Overall - It is not a bad beer. I prefer other Three Floyds to this one. As I drink Space Station Middle Finger, my middle finger is twitching (literally). (622 characters)

For what it is, this is my favorite beer. It is a great American Pale Ale that has a strong hop presence without lingering hop bitterness. The IBUs are reasonable, but the hop flavors and aroma are not what you would expect from a 50 IBU beer. Citrus and melon can be detected, but there is also a garlic/onion taste that comes when it warms. That sounds weird, but it makes it pair nicely with most foods. This beer is suitable for almost any situation. I live close enough to 3F that I can have this in my fridge at all times. Would I rate other APAs higher, yes. Would I want to drink those as consistently, no. (614 characters)

This is a great beer. Very smooth and well balanced....definitely sessionable. The beer poured a copper orangish color with frothy egg shell head that is leaving a very nice lace. The scent carries pine and slight tangerine peel. The taste is very good. There is bitterness through the draw, but finishes slightly sweet....then a tangerine bitterness leaves one wanting more. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. This is a great beer and I will look for more. (484 characters)

Really enjoyed this beer. Great aroma, and the flavor was a classic American pale ale. Big hop nose with what I am guessing is western hops varieties. Nice balance with clean malt flavor. I'd buy again. (205 characters)

22 oz. Bomber bottled on 3/24/15. 15 days old.

A: Pours a amber color that has some haze to it. Off white 2 finger head that slowly resided into a foam ring that stayed on top of the beer all the way down. Lacing is great.

S: Initially there is a citrusy hop aroma that has a malt presence behind its back.

T: Bitter citrus flavors hit the palate first, followed by a biscuity malt. Great balance.

M: Lighter medium mouth feel. Good carbonation. Bitterness lingers for a while after each sip.

O: I like it. 3 Floyds has never let me down and this is no exception. Top notch APA. (584 characters)

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a 3F Teku. Acquired in a trade.

Pours a slightly hazy amber body with a generous 2 finger off white head that sticks around for a while, leaving lacing and high retention.

Fruity aromas come through, tropical and citrusy, mango. Light aromas but very inviting. Biscuity malt backbone is present, maybe some caramel and slight butter.

Light hops on the tongue, citrus and grapefruit, light pine with a caramel, pale malt finish. Medium light body, very drinkable and crisp.

Overall very well rounded. I could pound a few of these down if it were available in a 6 pack (and I was in the three floyds distro!) (646 characters)

Bomber into a snifter. Aggressive pour. Nice hazy gold/orange. Big, pillowy off-white head of foam. Smells awesome; sweet fruit, grapefruit, pineapple, strawberries, candied sugar, and peppermint. Honestly one of the best smelling beers I've had. Medium weight and rich, creamy mouthfeel. Tastes a bit similar to a couple of their other PA's, but still good. I get pine, citrus, and notes of grapefruit, orange, and berries. Dry finish with a bit of a dank, tart aftertaste.

This is a good beer, but I feel like it's strangely similar to Yum Yum. Maybe it's the a certain type of hops the two share, or something. But I enjoyed Yum Yum, and I enjoyed this. This one had a bit of the same funky taste, which I didn't care for. Not sure what specific ingredient or brewing technique attributes to this, but if anyone knows what type of hops SSMF, Yum Yum, and Alpha King are made with, I'd be curious to know. While this is good, I'm not sure I could tell the difference between this and another 3F PA in a blind taste test. (1,023 characters)

Super balanced pale. May be one of the most balanced I've ever had. Nice citrus hops upfront complimented perfectly with crisp like malt on the back end.

Much more mellow than either ZD or Alpha King. I could drink the hell out of this beer. (243 characters)

This is possibly the best beer that I have ever had. It pours nicely with a light orangeish color and a light head. The smell is citrus hops with a little pine. The taste is not as hoppy or overwhelming as other brews by 3 floyds like zombie dust. It's citrusy with a slight hop at first followed by a clean malt flavor. Don't be scared or turned away by the price tag, it is well worth it! (390 characters)

Pours a clear, light amber with a thin whitehead.
Not a big smell.
Not much bitter hop but has a nice sweeter back end. Malt provides nice balance.
Feel is wonderful. Very smooth with a little bitter resonating.

Pours a medium amber with a thick one inch head. Smell is a hop forward, nice citrus zest, and notes of tropical fruit. Very mellow start, nice mouthfeel, with sweeter tropical hop notes, nice malt ballance, with very little residing bitterness. A very easy going, well balanced Pale Ale. (288 characters)
