On-tap at Black Rock Pub. Served in a tulip.

A - White foam settles to a collar, near-complete cap, and spotty lacing. Murky orange-yellow body.

S - Peppery Belgian yeast, loads of stone fruit, light citrus, bread, a bit of phenolic funkiness to the yeast character.

T - The taste is heavier on bread and yeast, with less of the malt and fruit sweetness I get from the aroma. There's still a bit of stone fruit and citrus zest, but it's mild relative to peppery yeast and grains. There's some grassy hop bitterness in the finish.

M - Alcohol is very well-hidden. Chewy, juicy, medium full body, with pleasant soft carbonation. Lightly grainy texture.

D - I like this significantly more than most Belgian's brewed at FFF, as the yeast strains used seem less dirty than something like Rabid Rabbit or Tiger Jelly. A good balance of sweetness, yeast, and grain, but probably the least exciting of John's collaborations. I had a few glasses, but returned to this one less often than the others.

On tap at the brewpub the other night. Served in a tulip glass there.

The beer pours a striking gold color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose I get considerable tropical fruit, along with some clove, bubblegum and light bananna. The flavor profile replicates the nose, except the beer was a bit sweeter than I was expecting, and there was more spice as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long finish. The beer had some noticeable alcohol on the finish (wasn't hot or tiring, but you do notice it), which along with the sweetness, hurt the beer's drinkability a bit. Still a solid beer, but I'm not sure this is something I need to order again any time soon.
