Draft poured into 3Floyds pint glass at Chicago's own Local Option.
One-finger, pale yellow head sits atop clear, saffron liquid.
Heavy (for a any wheat beer) hop nose with citrus, orange and mild spices.
Wheat balanced citrus with nice hop presence separates this brew from your standard wheat offering. Complex, medium body with plenty of lingering bitterness mellowed smooth from lips to tongue.
My favorite wheat beer and like most 3Floyds products deviates from the norm into areas that produce pleasant surprises.

A: Only slightly hazy orange-gold body, tufts of bubbles, a good head that leaves a thin coating on the surface, a few legs of sticky lace.
S: Mostly strikingly clean hops, most citrus fruits. Faint background of wheat. Really good, but too hop-centric for the named style.
T: Again, too hoppy for the style, but it's too good for me to knock it much. Clean, clean hops showcasing a variety of citruses with minimal bitterness playing off a slightly sweet wheat base. Finish could be longer.
M: Supremely crisp. Fluid. Lively. Refreshing. This is fantastic.
O: A simple concept wonderfully executed. Exactly matches my preferences for low bitterness, restrained hopping, and mild wheat sweetness. It's between a wheat and an IPA, I guess they can't appease both camps ('this IPA is weak!' 'this wheat has too much hops!'). All said and done, a great, easily repeatable beer.
