Brewed with our friends in the epic band High on Fire, this heavily hopped saison is worthy of razor hoof.

A: Pours a murky amber with a thick off-white head.
S: Aromas of caramel, biscuit, toffee, sweet cream, grass, herbs, and lemon fill the nose.
T: Notes of lemon, lime, kumquat, bitter orange, sweet cream, biscuit, caramel, toffee, grass, herbs, red apple, and juniper berry wash across the palate. The finish is bitter and hot with grass, herb, and citrus flavors overwhelmed by prickly, peppery alcohol.
M: Medium-to-full in body and initially slick, though it turns sticky around mid-palate. Alcohol presence is initially mild, but becomes increasingly distracting toward the fade.
O: I am just not digging this beer. I do not think that it displays characteristics that would remotely be associated with the best Belgian farmhouse ales, and while I am all for innovation, I dislike it when the brewer seemingly loses sight of the original style. I think that is what has happened here. Nothing about this beer screams saison to me. It seems trapped somewhere in between a couple of styles. Though I am a huge fan of Three Floyds' stuff, I really can't recommend this beer.

HIGH ON FIRE! Had to give it an overall of 5 for that, but otherwise not that great.
