A: A one claw of dense off white head that stayed the path for a few minutes before leaving behind a trail of its essence on the edge of my pint glass. A copper orange with a tint of crimson and a moderate amount of haze this beer has a distinctive beastly look.
S: Very light aroma. Fruity like sweet tarts or some kind of sugary candy. Mild tropical melon with a hint of caramel and toffee.
T: A solid amount of citrus bittering hops punches you in the face but quickly the pallet adjusts and its very easy drinking. A good amount of malt character pops away on the toungue, raisins, toffee, caramel and some other darker fruits on the spectrum. Very balanced profile, while there is some impression of sweetness the bitterness is right there behind it keeping everything in check. Fermentation character for a saison is very subdued but there are still some hints of the hey and clovey flavors lingering on the pallet after a few sips.
M: Clean finish with a medium body and a crisp finish. Medium carbonation levels.
O: A very balanced saison with some flavors not typical of the style keeping me interested. I very much like the balance of the yeast/malt/hop flavors in the beer. HoF on the label is a bonus. Keep it metal and drink a razorhoof!

22oz bottle poured into a Tripel Karmeliet tulip.
A - Tries to gush a bit on opening, but fast hands prevents any loss of beer. Pours a bit murky with some noticeable floating yeast particles in the body of the beer. Deep amber in color, ample carbonation bubbles and a thick, fluffy two fingers of khaki foam that shows good staying power.
S - Very citrusy aroma, heavy in oranges - almost tang like in character...a bit of lemony tartness too. A bit yeasty too. Interesting, but not much dimension to it.
T - Sweat, maltose-y malt at the base, thick and a bit heavy. Earthy as well with mild hints of roasted malt. Mild hop bitterness - a bit dull in flavor character, perhaps overwhelmed a bit by the malt. The citrus that was so strong in the aroma is lacking any real presence in the flavor, disappointingly.
M - Medium bodied, but the sweet maltiness makes it feel heavier. Carbonation is rather high, foamy and tingly on the tongue.
O - Not very "saison-y"...heavy handed in the malt department. Nice citrus aspects in the aroma, but lost in the flavor. Not especially impressed - drinkable for sure, but not memorable at all.
