Showed up on a Fresh Zombie Dust day, perhaps that contributed to the two hour wait to get into the rather cozy brewpub. Windows reveal the brewery, where workers are in constant motion retrieving fresh cases for carry out. It's a rather Black Sabbath Frank/Zappa environment, yet the average desk jockey will not feel out of place.
Once you get in, the fun starts. About twenty beers are available, half of which are brewery exclusive taps. The service is on the slow side, but they don't seem over-staffed; the servers are always moving and happily explaining the goods available. Enjoy your beer and contemplate your next.
According to the tour (which is more of a lecture than show & tell), there is a four star chef in the house, and the menu reflects it. There isn't a lot on the food menu, but it's high end and everything sounds scrumptious. We had a cheese plate, octopus, chicken sandwich (more delicate than you may think), and fish and chips. All were delightful, and plenty of food.
I had first put $$$ instead of $$. So I took a step back and realized the price is completely justified by the quality of the food and beer. If I lived in this region (which gets somewhat of a jaded reputation), I would definitely show this place off to anyone.
