There aren't too many nits to pick with 3 Floyds Brewpub.
Atmosphere is funky, with loads of beeraphernalia and local art, ranging from comic book to trippy. An overhead projector throws movies up onto one wall. One table has couches in lieu of chairs. The bar itself is comfy, solid, and full of regulars.
Service is perfect at the bar. Occasionally the waitstaff elsewhere is a little off--not too knowledgeable, not too frequent, or otherwise sort of removed--but this is sparing. Often the waitstaff consists of beer geeks, which is nice for chatting about beer but provides a different experience than a normal restaurant--I'm fine with that, though.
Selection's interesting. Not the most taps in the world, but always loaded with Alpha King, Bruce, Gumballhead, etc., as well as some one-offs--Bourbon-Barrel Aged Cherry Behemoth as of last night, even. There are some good guest taps that constantly change, and a short but well thought-out list of guest bottles, in addition to their own beers. It's really hard to beat fresh Dreadnought and Arctic Panzer Wolf, or Alpha King on the beer engine. Growlers of everything but the really rare stuff are available.
Food stands out here, for a beer place. Bangers and mash, as well as cassoulet, stood out last night--fries and mac and cheese complemented well. Prices are low, but portions aren't gut-busting, except for maybe the burger. Still, an excellent value for really great execution. Menu changes up occasionally, but they post it online.
All in all, this is one of the best places to eat and drink in the Chicagoland area. If you can con someone into designatedly driving, or your SO hates beer--get over here.
