750ml bottle

A- Golden hay-like colour with some visible carbonation. Quite big head that shows decent retention and leaves good amounts of lacing on the glass

S- Lightly earthy aroma of grainy malts, with some vivid fruity undernotes (apple, orange, maybe lemon). A hint of alcohol is detectable as well

T- Strong grainy malts, with a toasted note to them and a crisp dryiness that almost reminds of a lager. Sweet fruity notes of apple and pear, expecially on the palate. Some spicy/alcoholic notes from the esters too, bringing a little more life. A slight bitter note remains in the atfertaste and balances the beer's sweetness. Not overly complex but still very nice

M- Quite dense body due to that toasted malt note and vivid carbonation. Nicely crisp on the tongue but maybe a bit too prickly on the palate, expecially for the style.

O- Really dry if compared to my previous biere de garde tastings; kinda reminds of a lager, with very nice drinkability. Overall a very nice beer in it's simplicity

3 Monts Flanders Golden Ale

Appearance: Lovely deep gold color, little bubbles of carbonation rising to meet the fluffy head. The head is full of tight foamy bubbles, and lasted for a few moments. Lacing was nothing special, just a few patches around the glass rim.

Smell: Definitely has some sweet malt blended with fruity lemon and orange esters. Light spices, coriander and hints of clove. Very subtle and delicate aromas.

Taste&Mouthfeel: Very nice. The medium body is light but has the depth of spices. The malt seems to have hints of wheat, and is cut by the spices. There is a little heat on the back end from the alcohol, which surprised me because it's not a particularly strong in ABV beer. I wanted slightly more citrus, though the beer had sharp acidity, it still lacked the flavors of orange and lemon my nose had led me to believe would be present. Good carbonation is a major plus in this brew.

Overall: It is refreshing as a brew, esp after drinking so many IPAs lately. I passed my glass around and it was a crowd pleaser. Personally, it was a little sharp in heat and acid with not enough esters to mellow out the flavor of the malt and coriander. Still, as I said, the others in the room gave it higher marks than I.

Pours out a bright gold with a foamy white head. Nose is bready, crackery, grainy with soft, fruited yeast, and a bit of floral hops. Flavor is overall sweet and richly malty up front. Bready, honeyed malts with floral noble hops. Slight acidity and dryness in the finish make if refreshing in spite of the initial richness. Mouthfeel is moderate in weight with a prickly, strong carbonation which works so well with the flavor profile. Pretty good stuff.

I needed to go to YouTube for help opening the bottle, I've never encountered a staple holding down a champagne style cork in a bottle of beer. Once I past that hurdle, using a flat head screw driver as a wedge to remove the staple and a little luck removing the cork barefooted, get the joke, I was pleasantly surprised at how much the taste of this fine brew grew on me until the next morning when I awoke to go to work and couldn't remember who won the football game I'd been watching. After a quick Google search I discovered it was the NE Patriots on top and this close to addicting beer on top too. In other words this is one incredible beer!

A - pours clear bright yellow, 2 fingers of thick, white, clumpy head, appears highly carbonated, slow dissipation into a healthy lace throughout

S - fruity, apple, pears, sweet, slightly yeasty

T - very refreshing, sweet fruits, apple, mild grape and vanilla, champagne, a spiciness which is more prominent near the end, a clean and wet finish

M - medium body, big bubbly carbonation but very smooth, again very refreshing

O - interesting, complex, refreshing, well balanced and delicious. very well done.

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation—a steady stream of small bubbles rising from the center of the glass and intermittent large bubbles rising near the edge of the glass. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles in the center of the glass and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of apples are present in the nose, similar to what you would expect from an apple wine or hard apple cider.
T: The taste has flavors of hard apple cider along with hints of grainy malts and slight bits of sweetness and earthy yeast.
M: It feels a bit shy of medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and tastes like a hybrid between a beer and a hard apple cider. It seems like it would be a perfect accompaniment to a dinner with mild flavored meat such as poultry.
