well, at first i thought perhaps i wasn't supposed to drink this, due to the large staple thing holding the beer in. after a quick twist with some channel locks it was off though.

pours out a surprisingly light golden colour with a ginourmous fluffy cumulus of a head. it's noisy too, due to the littel bubbles.

aroma is a nice sweet smell of springtime dew and faint honey suckle. it also has this kind inviting smell like that of a musty attic storing all kinds of interesting treasures. actually, it reminds me of the underground wine aging caves at the Beringer Estate, in Napa Valley, California.

Taste is interesting. not a terrible amount of complexity, though, from the aroma, I wasn't really expecting it. a bit spicy, nice and sweet. very mild, no harsh or off flavours at all. it's like a mild honey water with a taste of alcohol to it, which, i think detracts from the flavour some.

mouthfeel is soft and velvety, drinkability is good and i'm going to enjoy all 750ml of this.

Well, I like this beer, not sure if I'm going to get it again anytime really soon, but, it's something to come back to and nice to try for sure.

Continued tour of French beers. Bought in Lyon, poured chilled in ale glasses, chez buzzlitebeer

A: bright; light, like a champagne/prosecco; foamy head; good lacing
S: like a dry white wine or prosecco; grape aroma
T: bright, pilsner-like quality; apple cider in the body; the yeast (champagne?) is a strong element; very much like a fruit or cider beer

Really nice, well worth a trip.

3 Monts Flanders Golden Ale

Appearance: Lovely deep gold color, little bubbles of carbonation rising to meet the fluffy head. The head is full of tight foamy bubbles, and lasted for a few moments. Lacing was nothing special, just a few patches around the glass rim.

Smell: Definitely has some sweet malt blended with fruity lemon and orange esters. Light spices, coriander and hints of clove. Very subtle and delicate aromas.

Taste&Mouthfeel: Very nice. The medium body is light but has the depth of spices. The malt seems to have hints of wheat, and is cut by the spices. There is a little heat on the back end from the alcohol, which surprised me because it's not a particularly strong in ABV beer. I wanted slightly more citrus, though the beer had sharp acidity, it still lacked the flavors of orange and lemon my nose had led me to believe would be present. Good carbonation is a major plus in this brew.

Overall: It is refreshing as a brew, esp after drinking so many IPAs lately. I passed my glass around and it was a crowd pleaser. Personally, it was a little sharp in heat and acid with not enough esters to mellow out the flavor of the malt and coriander. Still, as I said, the others in the room gave it higher marks than I.
