Poured into my Ommegang chalice a dull medium golden with a nicely formed white one finger crown that held well atop.Aromas are lightly spiced with a big dose of pilsner malt,a bit of drunken fruit as well.Flavors are again lightly spiced with the pilsner malt being the backbone of the flavors,a bit of drunken fruit lingers. Not overly complex but it's food friendlyo the hilt.I liked the "basic" 3 Monts a little better I think.
8.3% ABV. per bottle label.

750mL (code 11 20) into a Hennepin glass. Pours a clear honey amber w/ a thick fluffy white head that leaves big sticky clumps of lace on the glass. Not nearly the same carbonation level as the regular 3 Monts.
Aroma is a combination of wet hay, spices and fruits. Similar to a saison. Yeast leads the way.
Taste is spicy, fruity malt and Belgian yeast. Apples and pears, with a mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a clean dry finish.
Overall a really nice smooth Bière de Garde. Aside from less carbonation, not vastly different from the golden ale version.

Wonderful clear golden color with a very faint haze. The head is very fluffy and settles within two minutes.
There is a pungent fruity smell arising from the yeast as well as some alcohol.
Tastes very yeasty, specifically the almost nuttyness and alcohol. The sweetness from the malt is a bit overpowered by the yeast but it is still a decent flavor. Hops are very week, which is good for me.
Feels like an average beer, very wet. But the yeast and alcohol create an interesting effect; if you rub your tongue againt the roof of your mouth it feels like wet paper.

750ml into a tulip. Pours a crystal clear wonderful amber copper, towering dense yellowish cream colored head retains nicely, excellent lacing.
The aroma is a complex triptych of fruits, floral notes and spices atop a yeasty base. No low notes. Clean, upbeat.
The taste, while all the scent promised is delivered, is muted. No personality. Fails to be of strong character, all edges are rounded. Slightly dry finish, tiny bitter, the aftertaste disappears quickly. Light to medium bodied lively mouthfeel.

A - Poured out a clear, golden-orange color with a two-finger, long lasting head of off white foam. It left soapy trails of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled very fruity - dried fruits like plum and raisin. There was a biscuity malt aroma, too.
T - It tasted very fruity and spicy. Nice plum, raisin and fig notes with some sweet caramel malt.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium to full bodied ale with a dry finish.
O - This is a pretty good biere de garde. A nice value.

Past its prime, but there are some things working here, would love to get this beer fresh.
Nice straw golden body with a fluffy dense head, well carbonated.
Aroma gives some herbs and honey, the latter is from age, still a touch of some floral hops that leads me to believe when fresh this beer has some really outstanding attributes. A touch sour, which I was unsure of whether this beer would be more wild, but this was clearly not the intent here.
The taste has some white pepper, green apple, very almond and honey like malt oxidation dominates though. Unfortunate, still there is enough perceptible character there.
Good mouthfeel, effervescent, light body.
There is something here, need fresh.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike!
The beer is transparent and yellow hued, with 1/2" or so of white head and some decent lacing. The aroma brings grain, wet cardboard, apples, alcohol. In general, it just seems a bit off. The taste brings some odd funk, apples soaked in booze, and grain. Mouthfeel is decent, assuming you can get past the odd flavors and imbalanced nature of this unusual beer. Overall, not a repeat for me.

Big thanks to SFLpunk for sending this bottle my way. Served in a Captain Lawrence tulip. At the time of consumption, the #3 Biere de Garde. Reviewed from my tasting sheet.
Pours a clear golden color with an average, fizzy white head and some spotty lacing. Thin cap throughout. The nose is light and smells mostly like pilsener malt. Light cardboard and bread. Very grainy. The flavor is quite grainy as well. Light body and no contribution from yeast or hops. Fizzy carbonation and a dry finish. Not my cup of tea.

From 07/07/11 notes. Thanks to Thorpe429 for opening this one up. Poured into a Fantome tulip.
a - Pours a transparent yellow color with one finger of fluffy white head and mdoerate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of sulfur, a bit skunky, bread malts, and grain. Not very good at all here.
t - Taste is definitely a bit better, but still not great. A lot of bready malts, grain, and earthy notes. Just pretty average.
m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation.
o - Overall I wasn't too impressed with this beer. Didn't hate it as much as most, but wouldn't seek it out again.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429 at his place the other night. Liking this beer more than the rest of the people there apparently makes me retarded. I never knew. At the time of this review, this is the #4 Biere de Garde on the best of beeradvocate lists.
Beer served in a snifter, beer is yellow and clear with a white head of small and medium bubbles. Some carbonation, some lacing, looks good.
The aroma is not very good however. It is sulfury and has a lagerish bite to it, mildly grainy, a little off putting.
Beer is medium bodied and has a grassiness to it that seems like an off-flavor but I don't mind it much. There is a mildly dry finish with some partially sweet beginnings. The overall experience is nice but I don't think I'd have it again, especially not in front of anyone else due to overwhelming amounts of shame.
