Small shop not far from the center of Lyon. It was a bit crowded when I visited the place, and it was difficult to wander around, but it was worth the try ! I first intended to buy some bottles for a friend in Lyon but finally bought bottles for myself too.
Amazing selection of beers from the US, Denmark, Holland, Canada. Also very rare bottles of Belgian beers (de Dolle or de Struise for instance).
Prices are reasonable (a bit expensive for US beers but nothing outrageous).
The owner was very nice, he gave me some advices about beer aging. He also gave me a bottle of Péché Mortel for free. Very nice !

I visited here mainly as its the best beer store in Lyon. But Lyon is not great with beer stores so that maybe false praise. Staff are friendly and helpful and also spoke english well. Happy to answer questions about beer, and pointed me towards some french ones to try. Its a small store and quite cramped inside but it is very easy to find. Same owner has a bar called les fleurs du malt, worth checking out but do not confuse their addresses as they are not nearby each other. I found prices ok by Irish standards, but some may find it expensive.

The fact this store is located in Lyon, a natural crossroad of two great vini-viticultural regions and hence much more wine focused, makes this store stand out both in terms of quality and quantity when compared to what you might expect from a beer store in Lyon.
I already knew of the store beforehand so i was prepared for a great variety of beer and I wasn't disappointed. You had some of the more traditional Trappist brews, some great American craft brewers (Port Brewing, Rogue, Great Divide), some craft brands from throughout Europe (France, Denmark, Netherlands) and even some obscure craft beers from similarly usually under represented countries such as New Zealand. Oh, and there is that one thing about it selling freakin' Westvleteren XII! All in all the place seemed to have a roster of about 200 biéres.
Despite all that , however, I can't say i was particularly well-serviced. When i first arrived, the serviceman was with some 5-6 friends drinking up a bunch of private collection brews and didn't bother to acknowledge me until about 20 minutes after, when all his friends had already left.
Still, i chatted up some nerd talk with him and he was reasonably knowledgeable. He knew of some obscure brands and his descriptions of some of the beers being sold seemed acceptable.
It's a bit pricey but not THAT pricey.

Les Fleurs du Malt was something of a shock when I stepped into the store...shelves piled high and within the first couple seconds I saw over 10 beers I wanted. One of the best selections I have seen in a while in terms of variety and quality. I picked up some de Dolle, Port Brewing, de Molen, Norrebro Bryghus, To Ol, de Struise,Troubadour, Founders and Cigar City and could have gotten much more. The owner, Cyril is very passionate and should be opening a beer bar quite soon which judging by the shop should have some amazing stuff. If you're in Lyon, this is the shop to get your fix.
