McGorray's is, along with Donnie's Homespun Pizza, the only spot in Decatur to get decent craft beer. Here you'll find a strange mixture of golf simulators, dining room and a bar.

I thought it'd be much bigger than it actually is, but it works. McGorray's is a compact place all around, smallish but cozy. It doesn't feel crowded or golf-crazy, though. if you know what I mean. The wife and I got a table by the bar, enjoyed our beers and had a good time. However, atmosphere is truly average. Cozy and nice but boring, like a family restaurant with craft beer. Nothing exciting here.

Service was real nice, uber-friendly the first time. More detached but equally efficient the second time. I think that, on our first time there, they were surprised to find two folks who actually drink the good stuff, as opposed to those locals chugging Miller Lite.

Selection is damn nice for Decatur, with eight taps and a variety of styles: Avery Brown and White Rascal, Smutty IPA, Stone Sublimely, Schafly Pale Ale and Leiny Summer. They also have a pretty big bottle menu, divided in styles (Wheat, IPA, Belgium).

They change their line-up quite often, and so lately I've seen Avery 18th Anniversary, Avery Samael, Dark Horse Crooked Tree and on deck they have Avery Kaiser.

Our beers were fresh and the bartender was knowledgeable (she warned us that Stone Sublimely is a Black IPA, just in case)

Food menu is fairly extensive but also fairly generic. We had a bacon-mushroom-spinach flatbread that was a little thick for a flatbread but very tasty. Another good flatbread comes with caramelized onions, chipotle aioli and blue cheese. But still, this is more deep-dish pizza than New York flatbread.

Price is good. Stone Sublimely is $4.50, Avery Brown goes for $3.50, big flatbread is nine dollars...

If you live in Decatur, you ought to come here. If you're traveling nearby... why not? It's a nice place!
