More or less the best bottle shop I've found in my 4.5 years of living in L.A. Beside the fact that it's in my neighborhood, a seven-block walk away, it has an excellent selection of all the best SoCal breweries and many of the best regional/nationals. Easily the best source for fresh Beachwood outside of the brewery, plus fresh Pliny every other week or so. The service is always spot on--Crystal is awesome, always ready to call or text her brewery reps to see what's coming in, and when.
In my ideal world, they'd have a bar in the store (like Sunset Beer Co.), but that's a whole different business model. Prices can be a touch higher than other shops, but I'm always happy to pay a little more for the convenience and incredible service.

I finally had a chance to visit Bill's Liquor. They definitely sell good beers. I'd say 80% are stored in coolers, and some on racks next to the coolers. What I appreciated was that for some beers, they did sell singles, and you are able to mix and match a 6-pack. I always find such an option an attractive one.
I thought the prices were decent, maybe just a tad more expensive than my usual shops.
They post beers on Facebook, so they do get some rarities from time to time.
Overall, a good, solid bottleshop.

Bill's is a nondescript and easy to drive by corner convenience store that happens to have one of the finest craft beer selections in all of LA.
Most of the beers are refrigerated.
The staff is hit and miss which is not that surprising considering it's really a convenience store. If the main beer guy is there, his name is not Bill, he is amazing and knowledgable and helpfull. I've been there when the lady behind the counter is 100% clueless when it comes to beer.
I usually know what I'm looking for so that usually isn't a problem for me.
On the east side, this is one of the 3 top shops along with Cap n Cork and Sunset Beer Co.

Quietly one of the best places for craft beer in LA. Not quite the selection of the top 2 or 3 places (Wally's, Vendome Toluca Lake), but right up there. Almost everything is refrigerated, the staff is friendly and reasonably knowledgeable (in that when I've asked about particular beers or releases they've always had an answer, never blank stares, but I also don't ask for assistance while I'm there, although it WAS offered frequently until it became clear I was a regular).
It's convenient for me, they've got great hours, and they make a commitment to making sure high-interest releases have bottle limits.
It's in the rotation (along with Vendome and Red Carpet).

This is one of my regular stops. Its only a 10 min drive (without Traffic) and is open until 11pm so i usually hit them up at night. They have a great selection of bombers and six packs as well as a window of singles to mix and match. The staff is very nice and the younger guy, I haven't caught his name, has gone to the back to get me a beer or two that wasn't on the shelf. They always have a beer or two that i haven't seen at my other regular stops. They almost always have Pliny and Blind Pig (Limit 1 of each) which is nice. Always a good place to stop if you are in the area.

Stopped into this shop for probably the 4th or 5th time today and it's always impressive.
A - It looks very much like any normal dive liquor spot in Los Angles, but tucked into the back, in a recently added cooler is a great selection of beer.
Quality - Mainly cooler, but good 6-pack varieties kept warm too.
Selection - Tons of Firestone Walker, Russian River, The Bruery, Deschutes, even found a couple Pretty Things all the way from MA.
Service - Pretty knowledgeable staff, an older gentleman at counter had definitely sampled a lot of what I purchased. A younger guy there, named Kelly, is a huge beer fan, and has even mentioned being interested in exchanges.
Really good prices for the selection.

At first glance you may think that this is any old liquor quick stop to get a tall boy or a 12 pack of coors before a party. Maybe a handle of tequila. And while it does have the "blue collar" beer and plenty of spirits, this place is so much more.
The craft beer selection here is something else entirely. They have plenty of variety when it comes to the bruery, stone and russian river. Typically with a row or two of Pliny the elder and the much over shadowed Blind Pig.
They have a mix/match/make your own six pack option for a fridge section and carries a wide variety of sought after beers.
Service is also pretty spot on helpful. With a facebook page that has updates on what they get in, I was able to score a Kern River Citras here with ease.
Very much a good little secret spot that you wouldn't expect to find hard to find craft beers in. But it's a great location.
