Cisco Brewers Whale’s Tale Pale Ale.. 12oz glass... best before Apr 2012
purchased at a convenient store in Astoria, Queens... they had a few others from Cisco....

A: Beautiful pour... the head formed in a strange rumbling way... deceptively clear reddish-brown color.. one finger white head... lacing is sticky as glue, doesn’t want to leave the sides...i can already tell the carbonation is going to be unique from the way it bubbles up

S: Very subtle hops... almost a fall leaf/twig essence. Not smelling much, might just be the turkish food i have sitting around... 3.0

T: Hard to taste at first because of the heavy carbonation at first. Quickly evolves into a very light hops/cherry taste which quickly turns back into a carbonated club soda feel... Not getting the apricot, orange that people are mentioning...It’s a refreshing beer, I’ll give it that, taste like lightly flavored sparkling water though... 2.5

MF: The carbonation feels like club soda. Not my favorite feel here. Beer doesn’t stick to my lips, the taste is muffled in the bubbles...2.5

O: Overall it’s an average ale with very little to it...Not too impressed, but it goes well with my food. 3.0

This is a very drinkable Pale Ale. The smell is nice with it's light sweetness and hint of what's to come. A perfect fit with the chili I'm enjoying it with.

A good into to Pale Ales if you are looking to get you or a friend started with Pale Ales.

Purchased as a single - pint pour

Pours a nice golden orange with big pillow head, took a while to come down. nice.

Smells fruity, really fruity, in a good way if that's your cup o tea. Taste follows, acidic and tart, pleasantly so.

Feels super smooth and drinkable, this went down fast.

Overall this is a solid pale - I DO plan on buying this again. This would be a great boat beer in the spring time.

Best before April 2012. Poured into a pint glass.

(A) Pours a clear, darker golden color with bits of brown in the darker parts of the glass. Has a decent off white head of tightly formed bubbles that recedes to a nice layer of head-film on the top of the beer. Not as light of a color as most pale ales. Looks quite promising.

(S) There is a bit of caramel and light malt. Some honey. A bit of hops is spread throughout the aroma. Some faint citrus notes are buried beneath the aroma.

(T) Light and caramel malts play a big factor in this flavor. There is a hint of honey, orange and grapefruit the blend well to give a bit of a lighter acidic tinge to the taste. Semi-sweet but semi-bitter. Good blend of the two and nicely balanced.

(M) Crisp and well balanced. Light in body but with decent substance. Kind of oily and pretty smooth.

(O) Solid pale ale. Not as hoppy as some of the pale ales that I've had recently or what I've been used to, but it's very crisp and quite refreshing. Seems to have a bit more to the flavor profile and is a well rounded beer.

12 oz. can. Best by : Feb 2012

Thin tan head that levels quickly with a light webby lacing. Medium-dark brown body. Nose fresh cardboard with a little musty peach, like when home brewers use cheaper dried yeast. Taste is similar, though with more of the peach character and a white wine tartness. Bitterness is very sour and doesn't balance well. A little dry. I am not a fan, though I'll give the other brews a try.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

A: Poured a brownish/amber color with a small, slightly off-white head that hung around. Good lacing.

S: Definitely getting the hops. Slightly bitter, but pleasant.

T: Off the bat I got a VERY nice balance of hops and a subtle sweetness (citrusy/orange?). But it's a bit more complex than that. In addition to the hops and citrus it's slightly spicy with some faint floral notes. Has a crispness to it that's really awesome. A very clean finish.

M: Medium bodied. Perfect carbonation for an English Pale.

O: I really enjoyed this beer! Subtle complexity that keeps it very drinkable. Could drink this year round and will definitely buy again!

The smell is the first thing I paid attention too here. It wasn't that pleasant, there was a fruitful smell, but the lemony smell was not that impressive, not appealing.

Unfiltered, nice appearance, has that light amber look. A lot of head, (I had the beginning of the keg.)

There was definetly a citrus taste that I would campare to Sam Adams Summer. I was not in paticularly please with it though.

The mouthfeel was nothing special either.

Maybe I had a bad batch, or maybe this just isn't my type, but I really did not like this beer.

Pours a clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Smells of sweet toffee. Taste is toffee up front, followed by some earthy floral bitterness. Sweet candy finish. Mouthfeel is rich. Overall quite good. It does seem to be missing something, perhaps the yeast from tasting just like an English bitter. A very good beer either way though.

Nice large tight white head. Golden amber hazy body.

English aroma toffee biscuty bit nutty and butterscotch. Light floral hop is vague, but there.

Slight yeast fruityness apricotish. Toffee and caramel are met just by a touch of bitterness.

Nice beer very balanced flavors meld nicely into a uniquely british pale ale. Very light mouthfeel. Would be very nice with a meal.
