Pours out a deep dark red with one finger of off white head that quickly dissipates but leaves a ring at the edge of the glass without any lacing.

Smells of deep fruit. Not quite cherries, but darker. That deep fruit smell is surrounded by a sour funky smell that melds nicely together.

Surprisingly, the first thing I taste is the funkyness. Dank, basement type wonderful that gets sour and tart. The oak and deep fruit come out right with it though and make for a wonderful combination of flavors.

Feels good drinking too getting a lot of depth from the barrel. Not over the top sour and medium carbonation lend to a great feeling drink.

Overall, I am very very happy I have another bottle of this!

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a rusty red color with a white head. The aroma is strong cherries, oak and vanilla. The flavor is exactly what I expected after smelling the beer. I get a lot of tart cherries with some oak and vanilla notes. Very drinkable and very dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle shared by Grant - much obliged!

Pours a hazy reddish-tan color with a one-finger light tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of tart and ripe cherries backed by medium malts and hints of spiciness from the oak. All the aromas are very crisp and stood in stark contrast to a De Cam Lambiek we had earlier.

Tastes very similar to how it smells. Medium and nondescript malt flavors kick things off and are quickly overtaken by loads of tart bright cherry flavors with very slight hints of medicinal flavors. Slight amounts of spiciness reminiscent of French Oak come into play midway through the sip. The oaky spiciness and solidly tart cherries carry through to a crisp and moderately tart finish.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with active carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I had no problems finishing my glass and could have another.

Overall I was impressed with this beer as I have been with most of the Cisco Woods series. An unexpected showcase for oak. Well worth a shot.

Good but not outstanding kriek, perhaps needs some ageing to take some edge off.
Pours reddish colour with good amount of head. Strong aromas of bleach and cherry. Full mouthfeel but the boldness also includes carbonation that I would have liked to be softer. Not sweet at all, its straight up dry cherry in your face, more of a sipper over a couple of hours, still great flavours if you like tartness.
Thanks M.P.

No head, reddish-amber body.

Nose is of some spice and cherry pie.

Quite tart on the start and finish, which is accompanied by spice. Cherry is easy to get wrong, but this nails it. Trace of oak. Faintest hint of bitter leafy greens.

Mouthfeel is not super thick, but not too thin either.

Really worthwhile kriek-- remarkable spice character. Not sure what this would do in time, but it's darn good fresh.

750ml corked and caged bottle poured into a Duchess oversize wine glass. Shared with schen9303.

A: Pours a .5 finger coarse white head that dissipates quickly. Beer is a stunning, clear blood ruby red. Lacing is spotty and with little cling.

S: Nose is abundantly oaky. Tart, and sweet with notes of cherry, wood, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Aromatic and appropriate but lacking a certain funkiness.

T: Opens sweet cherry and syrup. Juicy but a bit watery. Tart builds towards he middle but is subtle and not enough to cover the cherry juice flavor. Woody in the back and dries out as it lingers on the palate. Finish is sweet and a bit cinnamony. Aftertaste is oaky and dry.

M: Light bodied and highly carbonated. Lively and coarse on the palate. Tingly going down. Finish is dry and aftertaste lingers just a bit.

D: A slightly above average AWA, Monomoy kriek's flavor tapers out as it warms. Becomes a bit too watery on the palate. Also, not really sour. The tartness kind of fights with the sweetness and fruit flavor the whole way through. Not bad though and worth a try.

750 mL bottle poured into an Allagash chalice and an Ithaca tulip. No bottle date.

Appearance - Ruby red body that gets cloudier as I pour it. Dark, like an oud bruin, but still with a bright pink luster to it. Big head that limits the amount I can pour into the tulip.

Smell - Musty and acidic smelling. Sour cherries and a hint of funk. A touch oaky, perhaps in a slight vanilla smell in the background.

Taste - Acidic, but not quite puckering until the finish. Cherries come through, as does the malt. Not sweet, though, just a touch of malt. Oak and vanilla in the finish, which turns quite sour and dry.

Mouthfeel - Tannic and dry, to the point that it makes my teeth hurt. Makes it a bit tough to drink.

Overall - A nice sour with appealing oak notes. Like an oud bruin with cherries. It's tasty and has a good depth to it, but not mind-blowing.
