Pours out a nice bluish/red with a small head that is white with a bluish red tint with little retention. Smell is immediately brettish with a little blueberry in the back. Smells decent but nothing out of the ballpark. Still smell nice. Taste is a little brettish funk with some definite blueberry taste and slightly acidic although not tart or anything. Mouthfeel is fairly nice from the carbonation as it is a tad thicker than I expected. Overall it has a little funk and a little blueberry but it has a little strange taste that I can't put my finger on. I love fruit beers more than others so I find this beer to be OK but really wasn't the beer I was hoping for. I'll update if it starts tasting nicer once it warms up a bit.

Pours a hazed purple ish pink color, fuchsia to be precise. Smell of blueberries and cleaning product. In the taste, lemon and blueberry flavors dance in a moderate tartness. Light wheat, some citrus and little alcohol heat. Light bodied feel with a medium level of carbonation.
Overall, this was a nice little blueberry brew. Nice flavor.

I never liked Cisco beers but still stupidly decided to give this one a try despite the crazy price tag of 24 bucks for the 750 bottle. I should have followed my instincts.

Bueatiful violet colored body.

Very fragrant. Lovely smell. Flowers and blueberries. Very nice. Some medicinal phenols that could pass for flowery.

Taste: Medicinal. WTF. big time phenols. Blueberry flavor comes through and is nice but the medicine flavor messes everything up. I understand there might be some funk in this beer but this is not a very good flavor in my opinion. However, as the beer warms up and you get through the bottle, the taste does grow on you somewhat. I did finished about 3/4 of the bottle although my initial reaction after first sip was immediate "drain pour".

Good in all aspects except for the taste. Big disappointment.

Disappointing considering the extreme cost of this beer. Pours honey with a pinkish white head, some cling lace. Astringent smell, like methiolade, not much else. Taste is sour, blueberry, gamy, barny, and a little malty at the finish. Mouth feel is medium, good carb, balance is all over the place. Overall, not my favorite and probably wouldn't try again.

750ml, winter '13
Riedel tulip

A: Pours a slightly hazy pinkish blueberry juice color. High carbonation. Bright white thin layer of head. Forms a collar around edges. Slight layering.

S: Light on the sourness, but its there. Getting a good amount of blueberry juice character. Some oak notes.

T: Not quite as tart/sour as I was expecting. You go get a slight bit up front, from fresh blueberry flavors. Then some off chalk character. It's very dry but not bone dry. Still some good sugar left over.

M: Light leading to medium bodied.

A: Pours a hazy bluish purple in color (just what I would expect from a blueberry beer) with moderate amounts of visible carbonation and some deep purple highlights. The beer has a finger tall purplish white fizzy head that reduces to a couple of medium sized patches of thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal to light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of blueberries over lighter aromas of barnyard funk and sourness. Very light hints of oak.

T: Upfront there is a light amount of sourness not dissimilar to what you would find in a lambic along with moderate flavors of natural blueberries which lend just a hint of sweetness. There is a moderate amount of funkiness and some tartness in the finish.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of acidic prickliness and just a touch of dryness.

O: Enjoyable because of the sourness/tartness and the very natural flavors/aromas of the blueberries. Easy to drink and refreshing on a hot summer day.

A: The beer is hazy bluish red in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of blueberries are present in the nose along with some hints of sourness.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of blueberries - but these seem to be natural instead of artificial.
M: It feels light-bodied and slightly tart on the palate and has a bit shy of a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked this beer because the blueberry flavors seemed natural and not artificial.

Blueberries? Oak? Beer? RYE? Ugh. $15.99 price tag. Found it 'reasonably' for $9.99 & scooped one up with extreme prejudice. There's an odd pricing dichotomy on this one. Big 750ML bottle split with my wife.

The pour, well, the pour comes after the smell, as blueberries sally forth from the neck of the bottle like Genghis' hordes. Wow! Once it settles in the glass there's more tart than blueberry. Pour is brown mixed with blueberry blue, settling in around dusty purple. Nice kick-off.

Pedaler Blueblerry Bleer: say it & you sound drunk before the first liquid touches your lips. Beer itself is like a subdued sour. There's a distinct tartness that removes the over-the-top blueblerry smell, in fact, the blueberry devolves into a distant memory. How can an aroma be so strong & not translate to the taste? Oak isn't evident except for a dry, puckering finish. Slight earthiness emerges as it warms. A bit cola-like in the mouth, but half the bottle is going to be plenty for moi.

Put this on the cover of "Sour for Beginners", the tartness would be a nice, gentle intro. As is, pretty good beer that would be a lot better if the blueblerry taste matched the blueberry-patch nose.

Pours light purple with a matching head. Smells like slightly tart blueberries. Taste is dominated by blueberry up front with a slight funky tart aftertaste. Mouthfeel is slightly on the thicker side with low carbonation. Overall a pretty good beer, glad I picked one up.

Pour is reddish purple with a thin head and purple tint. Nose is heavy blueberry, faint raspberry, and some oak and light vanilla. Taste is a bit cough syrupy blueberry, assertive oak presence, light mint in back. Touch of tartness. Lighter body, heavily carbonated, fairly dry finish. Simple, not super bright, ok.

S - Blueberry, oak, sour, light perfume blueberry aroma.

T - Sour, blueberry perfume with light oak, and cloying funk.

M - Full medium bodied

O - This one didn't do it for me at all, will pass it up next time.

A bottle, poured into a duvel tulip. Muddy purple beverage, hints of amber and red under the haze. Smell is of blueberry jam, not a lot of fresh fruitiness but old, Cooke down fruit and a hint of English yeasty ester.

Flavor is bland. Blueberry and balanced bitterness, a hint of toast and malt body, but largely just jammy fruit.

I don't get this beer. It's not oaky, not acidic, not malty, not very flavorful. It's labeled as an oak aged beer made with fruit, it tastes like a steel tank and blueberry juice concentrate. A total meh. The problem is, I can find anything to dislike either. Insipidly boring.

A: Poure a light purplish color with crimson and blue colored hues. A nice colorful cap sits atop of this beer with good retention which leaves a nice amount of lacing

S: Blueberry all the way with a little hint of funk Earthiness

T: Starts out with some nice fresh blueberries, almost a little like creme in the background. Some Earthiness and tart notes come to play. I detect a bit of residual sugar. The finish is sweet, dry, loads of blueberries.

M: Medium body, well carbonated, plenty of blueberry on the palate.

O: Not bad at all. I think I may have been the biggest fan of this beer at our bottleshare. I just did not detect the overly agressive funk, feet notes.

One of the more unique beers you'll try. Keep an open mind, ITS BLUEBERRY! It almost has a flowery aroma and the oak cask aging is hardly noticeable. It pours and drinks almost like a lambic but not nearly as sweet. The bottle alone is worth the investment. Beer is beer. Dont be a snob.

This beer poured out as a vibrant purple-ish color with a light pink head on top. The retention was pretty good on this beer but there wasn't too much lacing at all. The smell of the beer is purfumey, it's sweet but smells almost artificial. Not the best blueberry aromas I've come across in a beer that's for sure. The taste is a little off as well. There is a subtle tart flavor to it but it also has this strange flavor in there that just isn't working all that well with this beer. There is a blueberry essence to it but its just not what it should be. The mouthfeel was light bodied and decently carbonated. Overall I major waste of money... I rolled the dice and lost on this one. Not worth half of what I paid for it in my opinion. I'm not a fan of this brew.

Bottle to Ommegang flute

A: it looks amber to brown from the outside, but from the top you can definitely see some blue/purple color with a tan head that leaves a thick lacing. It is semi transparent and pretty cloudy with a few floaters in there.

S: Ok so you can definitely smell the blueberries in there but there isn't much strength there or much else for that matter. However there are some hints of oak and a tiny bit of funk in the background.

T: Nice tart taste that is not too strong though its there, but it is not sour at all so there is that to start. However with that being said, there is definitely a lot of blueberry taste in there and you can definitely taste the oak in the finish, but it seems like it should have stayed in there longer. The blueberry really comes out in the finish as it tastes like fresh blueberry juice.

M: It is nice light and refreshing which is what I would normally expect from a blueberry ale but its a little off as this is aged and "sour" (way more of a fruit beer if you ask me). It is smooth and really drinkable plus there is a light carbonation. Not bad just seems off style to me.

O: I like this beer, but it is a lot more a fruit beer then an aged sour it has a lot of blueberry flavor and is a nice refreshing/easy to drink. That being said there really isn't anything special out of this beer and maybe I'm let down because I expected something more, but if you like blueberry or fruit beer this one is worth a try but for what I paid for it wasn't worth it.

Magenta color, like a blueberry red. No lacing, but the head looked nice when it peaked at around an inch-and-a-half.

Bretty funk, blueberry jam, fresh blueberries, sweet lemon, whipped cream, oakiness, musty basement, and very mild sourness. Definitely the nose of an American Wild Ale.

Tartness reminiscent of fermented lemon; funk reminiscent of horse blanket and wet straw. The fruits are thin now. Blueberry and unripe strawberry notes are really watered down, but are pleasantly fresh. Still that intriguing added note of whipped cream from an aerosol can. Very subtle oak picked up. Really sticking to the point that the fresh blueberry flavor is very nice, I just wish there was more of it to impose on the funkiness. I'm used to a beer this subtle with the fruit to be supplemented with a rush of puckery sourness. But, the sour here is more like a tangy tart.

So drinkable. Incredibly refreshing, even though I like a little more sourness to brighten it up. I could picture myself drinking this on a shaded porch in the late summertime. Elegantly smooth and lighter-bodied with a nice underbrush of carbonation. Barely tastes alcoholic.

I keep forgetting that I'm rating this as a fruit beer. Still a worthy try. Love what these peeps do with critters in beer. Not many reviews up on this one. Get up, get one, and try it. Tell me what you think.

Thanks to Dope for this bottle.

Pours a lovely light purple color with a pinkish bead, definitely a lot of blueberries in this.

Smell is very authentic blueberries and a somewhat sharp metallic scent that I'm guessing is brett.

Taste is yummy blueberries, a somewhat sharp brett flavor, fairly tart fruit but not really sour or acidic.

Great mouthfeel, well carbonated and very creamy feel.

Good beer, very authentic fruit flavors, not quite a sour but not exactly a fruit beer either.

On draft at Capone's.

The beer appears a radiant blue purple hue with a soft, pinkish head. The aroma does indeed bring the promised blueberries, along with funky brett. Brett character has a large presence throughout, overpowering the fruit to some degree. Still, a tasty beer. Perhaps not as complex as I was hoping. More yeast and bugs and a larger serving of blueberries might liven things up. Spritzy carbonation and a bit of a prickle on the tongue. lingering brett in the finish. The aftertaste doesn't last too long. Certainly worth a try.

On tap at Prime 16, served in a Goose Island goblet.

A: Murky purple body with a thin, fine pink head. Ok lace.

S: Pure, rich blueberry aroma. Entirely authentic, unlike most blueberry brews. Lovely.

T: Opens with fruit, then deepens with some lactic tartness on the clean finish. Tasty.

M: Light and lively.

O: Great fruit beer. With a bit more funk and sourness it would make a great addition to the Woods series.

Cheers!

On-tap at Cisco in Nantucket, MA...

A: Pours a purple/pink/light red color with about one full finger of light purple head. The foam doesn't take long to settle, leaving a thin ring along the edges of the cup.

S: The nose is blueberry cobbler mixed with a bit of funk. It smells sweet and fruity, as is expected. I get a light touch of vanilla on there as well.

T: Hmm. This beer is sweet to start with some nice blueberry notes, but it gets weird and funky in the middle. I get some stinky feet and gym sock like qualities in the middle. The finish is more funk and sweet.

M: Medium bodied beer. The flavors hit you up front and last through to the end of the glass. The feet notes stay with you long after the beer has moved off the palate.

O: I'm pleased to have tried this beer, but it's a weird one. It's definitely not one of my favorites, and one glass was more than enough. I know the proceeds are going to a good cause, but I just don't think I could buy any more of this offering.
