Moor Porter was served from a 750 capped bottle. In my Duvel tulip, the beer was black, with a huge rocky brown head that deflated somewhat, leaving thick chunks of splattered lacing. The nose held a rich chocolatey-cocoa pruny maltiness, a pronounced cherry edge, and some coffee notes. The taste was sharp and dry, with chocolate cherry malts, a pronounced zippy black cherry middle, and a moderately bittered choco-coffee cherry finish that held some lingering licourice. I was overpowered by the strong cherry esters at first, but as the beer warmed, the malt components rounded things out nicely. The body was certainly over-fluffy at first, but letting it sit for a while remedied the problem. I felt that some more body fullness would have beneficial. Moor Porter was quite enjoyable though, once it warmed up. I found numerous tasty subtleties lying in wait beneath the estery surface.

Bottle was an extra from a trade a while back. Enjoyed from a beer hunter tasting glass. Brew poured a pewter black with a massive 3 fingers of head, big foamy off white head that hung out for ages and coated the glass with lacing as it dissolved eventually. Nose sings chocolate and believe it not but i get a lot of cola...and the typical porter char. Taste is milk chocolate washed over by roast and than sizzled with char and cooled off with milk. Easy drinker, fluffy...a bit fizzy and super char on the feel. Overall a nice porter, nothing to lose your mind over, but then again, how many porters make you lose your mind?

Rich, smoky aroma has an overtone of semi-sweet chocolate and subtle roast malt and licorice notes. It pours a deep, warm sable with a thick, fluffy and rather persistent tan head. Flavor, though, lacks the depth that the aroma promised - still smoky like a good porter with roast malt and coffee notes and hints of licorice and chocolate, just not as strong as the bouquet. Texture has OK body but plenty of fizz. Overall, a good porter, if not an outstanding one. Definitely worth a try, especially if you like dark beers.

appearance: Dark brown, nearly opaque, noteworthy billowy tan head with swaths of messy lacing.
smell: Solid chocolate nose, simple, not much depth or richness.
taste: Solid again. Tasty, but a bit of an odd aftertaste. Can't put a finger on it.
mouthfeel: full and creamy.
overall: A good not great Porter. Glad I tried it.

A: Dark brown with an off white head

S: getting lots of aroma; mainly Coffee, toffee, cocoa, and licorice....and maybe even some butterscotch

T: Wow, nice sweetness and mild bitterness. Bitterness definitely doesn't linger too much. Nice roasted malts and mild coffee flavor.

M: feels more carbonated than I had expected

O: one of the better porters I've had
