Notes/Commercial Description:
British Crystal and Chocolate malts give this ale a medium body and rich, sweet aroma. Mount Hood hops add a spicy and floral nose. This smooth, malty brew was a Gold Medal

The color was a medium clear dark brown with an off-white head that left quite a bit of lacing all the way till the end of the brew.

The smell is slightly sweet, roasted malts. Some hops, maybe.

As far as taste goes, it's slightly hoppy, very smooth, dry, clean, with a nice roasted hint to it.

It's yummy.

This beer is a darker color and there was no head. The beer had a taste that resembled a porter or stout. There was a light amount of hop taste and there was also a caramel aftertaste. A drinkable beer that was one of my favorites from Big River. The placemat states this beer won a gold medal at the 1998 GABF in Denver.

Tried this on-tap at the downtown Chattanooga restaurant. Pours a cloudy brown with a white head. Good retention. Smells of warm malts, nuts, and like root beer. Flavor begins with caramel, but then fades into nothing. Kinda disappointing. Light-bodied. Nice brown ale, but I've had much better.

A deep dark caramel brown, served in an imperial pint glass, boasts a slight head with good lacing. A sweet caramel malt nose greets the embiber, and is followed by a malty well-carbonated smoothness on the palate, ending up in a slight hop finish. Very drinkable, with a mouthfeel that is full but not thick. A very nice year-round all-occasion beer.

This was brown in color which was to be expected. The flavor was bland and boring. The worst part about this beer was that it smelled like a wet dog. I am not making that up it seriously stunk. I wish I could say something redeeming about this beer but it had too many problems to begin with. Wet dog, I was surprised.
